An agricultural system comprises a stalk-diameter sensing system associated with a row unit and configured to sense diameter-related data of respective stalks and generate signals based on the diameter-related data. Deck plates associated with the row unit are spaced apart to define a deck plate spacing. A deck plate positioning system is coupled to at least one of the deck plates to adjust the deck plate spacing. A control system is configured to communicate with the stalk-diameter sensing system and the deck plate positioning system. The control system is configured to receive the signals, determine a statistical representative stalk diameter for a sample of stalks based on the diameter-related data, determine a target deck plate spacing based on the statistical representative stalk diameter, and output a control signal to command the deck plate positioning system to set the deck plate spacing based on the target deck plate spacing.

A header for an agricultural work vehicle including a feeder house is provided, with the header operable to move crop material in a forward feed direction during a crop processing operation and in a reverse feed direction during a declogging operation. The header includes a frame configured to be coupled to the feeder house, a pickup belt assembly coupled to the frame and including a movable pickup belt configured to convey crop material, a transfer belt assembly coupled to the frame and including a movable transfer belt arranged to convey crop material from the pickup belt assembly to the feeder house in the forward feed direction, an actuator coupled to the frame that pivots the pickup belt assembly relative to the frame, and a discharge zone through which crop material is conveyed in the reverse feed direction during the declogging operation.

A harvesting machine includes a cutter head having a cutter bar for cutting crop from a ground surface and a rotatable reel located above the cutter bar. Reel arms of the reel each include a plurality of fingers thereon to engage the crop. The cutter head also has an actuator configured to adjust a pitch of the fingers with respect to the reel arms. A controller is operably connected with the cutter head and is configured to receive an input on a cutter head posture relative to the ground surface, with the input on the posture of the cutter head including one or more of a height of the cutter head or an angle of the cutter head relative to the ground surface. The controller operates the actuator to automatically control the pitch of the plurality of fingers based on the received input on the posture of the cutter head.

One or more information maps are obtained by an agricultural work machine. The one or more information maps map one or more agricultural characteristic values at different geographic locations of a field. An in-situ sensor on the agricultural work machine senses an agricultural characteristic as the agricultural work machine moves through the field. A predictive map generator generates a predictive map that predicts a predictive agricultural characteristic at different locations in the field based on a relationship between the values in the one or more information maps and the agricultural characteristic sensed by the in-situ sensor. The predictive map can be output and used in automated machine control.

A harvesting system includes a header pivotally attached to a combine. The header includes a center section to which a left wing and right wing are pivotally attached. A suspension system of the harvesting system includes first and second engageable states that enable dynamic wing behavior and reduce structural load. The first state corresponds to a harvesting configuration of the header in which the wings are allowed to pivot to allow the header to follow changes in terrain. The second state corresponds to a configuration in which the header is elevated relative to the ground. In the second state, the ability of the wings to pivot is minimized as compared to the first state, which allows the header to be maintained in a substantially flat configuration while minimizing the amount of dynamic load imparted by the header on the combine during non-harvesting transport of the header.

An apparatus to adjust tension in an endless belt of an industrial machine may include a conveyor assembly, a tension system, an image sensor, and a controller. The controller may be operable to receive a first image from the image sensor; determine a position of a first raised feature of an endless belt of the conveyor assembly relative to a first groove formed in the first roller of the conveyor assembly based on the first image and actuate an actuator of the tension system to alter the tension level in the endless belt in response to a determination that the first raised feature is at a location relative to the first groove outside of a selected range of locations to move the first raised feature to within the selected range of locations.

Pickup belt headers may include a ramp disposed in a gap formed between a first endless belt of a pickup belt assembly and a second endless belt of a transfer belt assembly. Fingers may be provided on the first endless belt, and the fingers may be deflected, such as by pivoting or bending, in response to engagement between the fingers and the ramp to avoid contact between the fingers and the second endless belt.

An agricultural system obtains a residue map that maps residue characteristics of a field, wherein the residue map is based on data collected at or prior to a first time. The agricultural system obtains supplemental data indicative of characteristics relative to the worksite, the supplemental data collected after the first time. A residue characteristic confidence output, indicative of a confidence level in the residue characteristics indicated by the residue map, is generated based on the residue map and the supplemental data. In some examples, a mobile machine is controlled based on the residue characteristic confidence output.

An information map is obtained by an agricultural system. The information map maps values of a characteristic to different geographic locations in a field. An in-situ sensor detects machine setting values as a mobile machine moves through the field. A predictive map generator generates a predictive map that predicts the machine setting at different locations in the field based on a relationship between the values of the characteristic and the machine setting values detected by the in-situ sensor. The predictive map can be output and used in automated machine control.

In some instances, stalk conditioners for conditioning stalk stubble present in a field after harvesting of a crop may include a bracket configured to be secured to a piece of agricultural equipment, such as an implement; an arm pivotably coupled to the bracket; and a blade that is disposed in a slot formed in the arm. The blade may be rotatable relative to the arm. The blade and arm may be configured to engage stalks stubble within a field following harvesting of crops, including during the course of a harvesting operation, to break and cut the stalks so as to promote decomposition of the stalk stubble.

A harvester may include a feeder house, a header mount interface proximate the feeder house; a header removably mounted to the feeder house by the header mount interface, the header having a mount interface for securing the header to a trailer; a sensor to output steering angle signals indicative of a steering angle of the harvester during an approach of the harvester carrying the header towards the trailer, and a controller to output control signals causing the display to overlay a representation of the mount interface on a real-time view of the approach.

A corn head includes a first wing segment; a center segment; and a corn head adjustment system. The corn head adjustment system includes a first fold actuator and corn head hydraulics fluidly coupled to receive a fluid from a source and to selectively direct the fluid to the first fold actuator. During a fold process, the corn head hydraulics is configured to actuate the first fold actuator in order to lift and fold the first wing segment frame relative to the center frame. During an unfold process, the corn head hydraulics is configured to actuate the first fold actuator in order to lift and unfold the first wing segment frame relative to the center frame. The corn head hydraulics includes a force relief arrangement configured such that, at a predetermined position during the fold process and the unfold process, fluid pressure to the first fold actuator is reduced.
