Techniques for electronic signature processes are described. Some embodiments provide an electronic signature service ('ESS') configured to facilitate the creation, storage, and management of electronic signature documents. In one embodiment, an electronic signature document may be associated with custody transfer rules that facilitate transfers of custody of an electronic signature document from one user or party to another. A custody transfer may results in a transfer of rights or capabilities to operate upon (e.g., modify, view, send, delete) an electronic signature document and/or its associated data. A custody transfer rule may be trigged by the occurrence of a particular event, such as the receipt of an electronic signature.

System and method for rules-based control of custody of electronic signature transactions

Techniques for providing data security services with respect to cloud-based services are described. Examples include a security service provider ('SSP') configured to perform or provide one or more security-related services or functions with respect to or on behalf of some other system or service. The other system or service may be, for example, a cloud-based system that provides network-accessible services. The SSP allows a user of the cloud-based service to provide and manage one or more security-related services, such as data storage, encryption, decryption, key management, and the like. By using and controlling the SSP, the user can be confident that his or her data is being securely represented and stored, even though it is being operated upon by a cloud-based service that is not under the user's control.

Systems and methods for cloud data security

Techniques for electronic signature process management are described. Some embodiments provide an electronic signature service ('ESS') configured to manage electronic signature processes represented by way of templates. In some embodiments, the ESS transmits a URL or other identifier of a template that specifies required electronic signature data, such as a singer name and/or signature. Then, the ESS dynamically prepares a form based on a received request for the identified template. Next, the ESS receives the electronic signature data by causing the form to be presented by a Web browser or other client. In some embodiments, the ESS and associated client systems perform these techniques without use of a Portable Document Format processing module.

Web-based electronically signed documents

The present invention provides systems and methods for dynamically rendering documents during a signing ceremony (instead of validating that signature tasks are placed appropriately on all documents). The invention establishes a visibility policy that governs how documents are rendered, based on the state of system Tabs (instructions) placed on the documents.
