Attachment of a suspension mat to a tubular seat frame is accomplished by partially or fully forming the tubular frame at the location of the attachment with a concave surface. The suspension mat has a J-clip fastener which conforms to the shape of the formed tube and is fitted around the tube and seated partially into the formed concave area. By forming the tube, and producing a concave surface portion on the tube, the J-clip fastener can be seated on the bent edge of the concave surface portion and prevented from rotating about the tube axis.

Seat assembly with improved attachment of a suspension mat to a seat

A vehicle seat assembly includes a fixed seat portion which is adapted to be mounted on the floor of a vehicle and a movable seat portion which is mounted on the fixed seat portion and adapted to be moved between a normal use or drive position and an access position where the front edge of the movable seat portion overlies the sill of the vehicle to facilitate egress from the vehicle, the movable seat portion providing substantial support for the occupant at the drive position and during its movement to the access position, the vehicle seat assembly including mechanisms for pivoting and/or sliding movement of the movable seat portion relative to the fixed seat portion and for locking the movable seat portion to the fixed seat portion to prevent unwanted movement of the movable seat portion. Also disclosed are systems wherein the movable seat cushion arrangement is supplemented by hand grips on the vehicle positioned to be grasped by an individual upon ingress into or egress from the vehicle to facilitate the ingress by an individual into and egress out of a vehicle through a door opening of the vehicle.

Pivoting seat cushion arrangement for vehicle seat assemblies

A seat assembly with an integrated seat cushion and seat track frame in which the lateral seat cushion suspension load is transferred from the seat cushion frame to the seat track frame enabling a seat cushion frame to be constructed without a rear cross member. As a result, the weight of the seat cushion frame is reduced, without sacrificing the structural integrity of the seat assembly frame.

A vehicle seat assembly including an extensible seat track trim cover for covering the front or rear end portions of the lower seat track when the seat assembly is either in a forward or rearward adjusted position in which the front or rear end portions would be exposed to thereby improve the appearance of the seat within the interior of a motor vehicle, to prevent the accumulation of dirt and debris within the track structure and to prevent contact of a seat assembly occupant's clothing with the lubricant of the track structure.
