A method for adaptively receiving and providing a multicast broadcasting service (MBS) according to at least one of capability and a channel status of a mobile station (MS) is disclosed. In more detail, a base station provides the MBS to MSs using different layers according to the capabilities and/or the channel statuses of the MSs, and the MSs adaptively receive the MBS according to the respective capabilities and/or the channel statuses of the MSs.

Method for receiving and providing multicast broadcasting service

A method for performing a handover between MBS zones of a mobile station receiving multicast and broadcast service (MBS) data in a wireless access system is disclosed. The method for performing the handover between first and second MBS zones of the mobile station in a wireless access system includes receiving the MBS from a first base station belonging to the first MBS zone which uses a first MBS zone identifier (ID), requesting the handover between the first and second MBS zones, receiving parameter information including a second MBS zone identifier (ID), from the first base station, and receiving the MBS from a second base station belonging to the second MBS zone, using the parameter information, wherein the second MBS zone uses the second MBS zone identifier (ID) which is needed to receive the MBS.

Method of performing and supporting handover in broadband wireless access system

A method for reporting a channel status in a mobile communication system including a relay station (RS) is provided. When a mobile terminal in the coverage of a base station (BS) receives a service through an RS, the RS reports a channel status between the RS and the terminal to the BS to allow the BS to decide whether or not to communicate with the terminal through the RS. In the method, a first RS in communication with a BS and at least one terminal measures a channel quality with a first terminal, compares the measured channel quality with a threshold and transmits a report message to the BS according to the comparison. The report message requests the BS to measure channel quality of at least a second RS or the first terminal in communication with the BS.

Method of controlling relay communication

A communication method using a relay station (RS) in a mobile communication system is disclosed. A base station transmits identification information, which designates a position of a relay station region during at least one next frame, to a mobile subscriber station through the relay station, and the mobile subscriber station identifies the position of the relay station region during the at least one next frame. Thus, the mobile subscriber station does not need to synchronize with a relay station preamble to retrieve the relay station region for every frame, and a start point of the relay station region can be retrieved quickly and exactly even in the case that the position of the relay station region is varied.

Communication method using relay station in mobile communication system

A method of performing ranging through a relay station (RS) and supporting thereof is disclosed. If ranging is performed in a system which performs communication between a mobile station and a base station through relay of a relay station, the ranging is performed under the leading of the relay station. In other words, if the relay station determines whether ranging between the mobile station and the relay station is required and also determines transmission parameter adjustment values and reports the determined result to the base station, the base station performs the ranging in such a manner that it prepares a message suitable for a specific format and forwards the message to the mobile station through the relay station.

Method of performing ranging through relay station and supporting thereof

A method for reporting a channel status in a mobile communication system including a relay station (RS) is provided. When a mobile terminal in the coverage of a base station (BS) receives a service through an RS, the RS reports a channel status between the RS and the terminal to the BS to allow the BS to decide whether or not to communicate with the terminal through the RS. In the method, a first RS in communication with a BS and at least one terminal measures a channel quality with a first terminal and compares the measured channel quality with a threshold and transmits a report message to the BS according to the comparison. The report message is to request the BS to measure a channel quality of at least one of a second RS and the first terminal in communication with the BS.
