A method of purifying a high specific activity Sn-117m composition is provided that includes extracting an iodide complex of Sn-117m with an organic solvent from an acidic aqueous cadmium solution comprising a dissolved irradiated cadmium target, an acid, and a source of iodide. The organic solvent layer comprising the iodide complex of Sn-117m is substantially reduced in cadmium content. The Sn-117m may be back extracted into an aqueous solution.

Formulations with unexpected cleaning performance incorporating a biodegradable chelant

A process for preparing polyamino monosuccinic acids, salts or chelates thereof by (a) reacting a maleic or fumaric acid ester or mixtures thereof with a polyamino compound in a primary alcohol as a solvent, (b) hydrolyzing the product obtained in step (a), and (c) separating the primary alcohol. Succinic acid derivative degradable chelants, uses and compositions

Solutions comprising at least one polyamino disuccinic acid and one or more polyamino monosuccinic acids are useful in gas conditioning (preferably as the iron chelate). The copper chelates are also useful in electroless copper plating. Another aspect of the invention includes the use of the aminosuccinic acid mixtures in laundry detergent compositions.

A novel intermediate useful in the synthesis of 2-hydroxyethyl iminodiacetic acid is disclosed. Aminosuccinic acid chelants are disclosed which have been found to be applicable in photographic processes. The aminosuccinic acids can be used in a method of bleaching or bleach-fixing a silver halide photographic material comprising contacting the photographic material with a bleaching solution containing at least one metal complex of a polyamino disuccinic acid and one or more metal complexes of a polyamino monosuccinic acid or a monoamino monosuccinic acid.
