Injectable biopolymer compositions and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a biopolymer composition for treating an aneurysm is provided. The biopolymer composition can include an injectable hydrogel including: a biopolymer; a chemical crosslinker forming covalent bonds with the biopolymer; and a stabilizer configured to inhibit ex vivo precipitation of the biopolymer. The injectable hydrogel can have an ex vivo storage modulus of at least 100 Pa at 37° C. over a linear viscoelastic region of the injectable hydrogel. The ex vivo storage modulus can be greater than an ex vivo loss modulus of the injectable hydrogel over the linear viscoelastic region of the injectable hydrogel.

Injectable biopolymer compositions and associated systems and methods

Magnetic-based electronic valve readers for determining a location and orientation of magnets coupled to implantable medical devices to determine a setting of the device (e.g., setting of a fluid flow control valve of the medical device). The electronic valve readers include an orientation sensing mechanism that is provided and configured to enable the electronic valve reader to: 1) allow for internal offset calculation of an orientation change of the electronic valve reader during a reading process; and/or 2) during the reading process, provide an indication or warning to the clinician that the orientation of the electronic valve reader has changed to an extent at or exceeding a predetermined angular acceptance threshold or window. Systems including the disclosed electronic valve readers and methods of reading a setting of the device are also disclosed.

Implants are placed in turbinate mucosal tissue using a surgical device having a proximal grip portion and a distal hollow sharp needle portion that is manipulated using the grip portion and inserted submucosally into mucosal turbinate tissue. One or more biodegradable, drug-eluting solid implants are disposed within the needle. The implants have one or more implant withdrawal-discouraging, mucosal tissue-engaging surface features along their length. An actuator disposed within the device is used to deliver one or more of the implants from the needle into the mucosal turbinate tissue and submucosally bury at least one such tissue-engaging feature therein.

Drug loading of polymeric materials can be adjusted by selection of materials and/or adjusting processing steps in formation of an implantable drug-loaded device.

Adjusting drug loading in polymeric materials

A hydratable gel-forming polymer may be sterilized by chilling the polymer below ambient temperature and sterilizing the chilled polymer using ionizing radiation (e.g., E-Beam radiation). Doing so may reduce the degradation in physical properties caused by ionizing radiation sterilization of the polymer while at ambient temperature, and may preserve or retain desired hydration or gel-forming characteristics.

Cold ionizing radiation sterilization

An osteotomy system, typically for tibial alignment correction, includes a wedge implant and an osteotomy guide. The wedge implant is generally U-shaped and its upper and lower surfaces may be inclined with respect to one another in two orthogonal planes to correct respective misalignments. The osteotomy guide controls cutting of the osteotomy opening and the drilling of a hole defining the apex of the osteotomy, forming a bony hinge about which the osteotomy may be opened.

A knotless suture anchor and method for its insertion into tissue are provided. The suture anchor includes an inner member including a proximal shaft and a distal securing member shaped to secure the inner member to the tissue, the proximal shaft including a first locking part and at least one hole extending therethrough for receiving the suture thread; and a collar member including an axial bore shaped to receive the proximal shaft of the inner member, a second locking part, and at least one hole extending therethrough and assigned to the hole of the proximal shaft of the inner member, the collar member being axially slidable into unlocked and locked positions relative to the proximal shaft of the inner member, the collar member being relatively axially slidable into the locked position only to secure the suture thread. The hole of the collar member is aligned with the hole of the proximal shaft of the inner member when the collar member is placed into the unlocked position, the hole of the collar member is misaligned with the hole of the proximal shaft of the inner member when the collar member is placed into the locked position, and the first locking part of the proximal shaft engages with the second locking part of the collar member to axially lock the collar member with respect to the proximal shaft when the collar member is placed into the locked position.

Knotless suture anchor

In one aspect of the invention, a cross-pin includes a distal portion having an axis, a distal end, and a proximal end. A proximal cylindrical portion includes a threaded exterior surface. A junction may be interposed between the distal and proximal portions to enable the proximal portion to rotate relative to the distal portion. In another aspect of the invention, a graft retaining system for retaining a graft in a bone tunnel includes a graft block having a proximal end and a distal end, and sized to fit within the bone tunnel. A cross pin transverse to the bone tunnel attaches the graft block adjacent the tunnel. An intermediate connector is attached to the graft block at a point distal to the cross pin and connects the graft to the graft block so as to apply compressive forces to the graft block.

A two piece graft fixation arrangement includes a graft block engageable with a graft and a transverse member engageable with the graft block to fix the graft block in a bone tunnel. Instruments and methods are presented for installing a graft in a bone tunnel and anchoring the graft with a transverse member placed through a transverse bore intersecting the bone tunnel.
