A molded article and the mold for making molded articles are disclosed. The molded article is a sanitary fixture, such as a whirlpool bathtub. The molded article comprises a rigid shell having a finish side and a non-finish side. A rigid material is coated on the rigid shell and integrally forms a leveling base on the bottom side of the rigid shell. Mounting pockets for attaching an apron and mounting areas for attaching a whirlpool motor may also be integrally formed in the rigid material coated on the rigid shell. The mold for manufacturing includes a plurality of cavities for forming leveling runners on the bottom side of the molded article. Additional cavities may be included in the mold for forming mounting areas and mounting pockets on the molded article.

A sports racquet with a throat piece in which vibrations produced upon impact of a ball on the strung hitting surface are dampened by interposing an elastic dampening device between opposite sides of the throat piece and the otherwise normally abutting inside of each leg of the racquet frame. Another embodiment, with or without a throat piece, provides a nubbed, perforated strip of elastomeric dampening material positioned on the inside of each side of the frame above the racquet throat, so the strings changing direction as they pass through the perforations bear against the protruding nubs which dampens the vibrations propagated along the strings.

A bumper strip surrounding the upper peripheral portion of a racket and for providing protection against injury to another player and to painted surfaces of a playing court is structurally integrated with the racket frame by passing string with which the racket is strung through the holes formed in the bumper strip whereby upon the string being tightened, the bumper strip is forced into engagement with the racket frame and whereby upon the bumper strip being removed the racket is rendered inoperable for play; and/or, a throatpiece is structurally integrated with the racket frame by passing the string through holes formed in the throatpiece which string upon being tightened in cooperation with projections extending outwardly from the sides of the throatpiece and extending into holes formed in the racket frame structurally integrates the throatpiece and the frame. The projections formed on the side of the throatpiece and the frame holes within which they are received permit limited flexing rotation between the throatpiece and the frame which accommodates the torsional rotation experienced by the frame in the throatpiece area upon a ball impacting the racket.
