A multi-sensor fire detector includes first and second flame sensors which are coupled to an external environment by a rigid, tapered, optical coupling element. An external end of the coupling element has a cured hemispherical shape with a viewing angle approaching one hundred eighty degrees. Processing and control circuits coupled to the sensors make a determination as to the presence of a fire condition.

A multi-sensor fire detector incorporates at least one acoustic resonator and other type or types of fire sensor. Other types include smoke sensors, gas sensors or optically based fire sensors. Outputs from the acoustic resonator can be processed with or without outputs from the other type or types of fire sensors to establish the presence of an alarm condition. Multiple acoustic resonators can be incorporated into the same detector.

Multi-sensor detectors

A multi-sensor gas detector includes a solid state heatable gas sensor, and at least one, different, infrared gas sensor. Emitted radiant energy from a heated surface of the solid state gas sensor, incident on the infrared gas sensor generates an output signal indicative thereof. The output signal and a signal from the solid state gas sensor can be coupled to evaluation circuits. The evaluation circuits can be implemented with a programmable processor and associated, executable control software to establish the presence of a target gas. One or more gas detectors can be incorporated into a regional monitoring system that includes a control unit coupled to a plurality of fire, smoke or gas detectors.

Multi-sensor gas detectors

A detector of human emitted Blackbody radiation includes a plurality of series connected thermocouples. A lens can be associated with each of the thermocouples. Incoming radiation produces a different response in each of the thermocouples in accordance with a respective angle of arrival even from a motionless radiation source.

System and method of detecting human presence

Wide area camera vision systems can respond to variations in light beams projected into a region being monitored. The variations are indicative of the presence of smoke in the region. In addition to providing viewable images of the region being monitored, analysis software can be used to evaluate the extent of smoke in the region or regions being monitored.

Camera vision fire detector and system

An aspirated smoke detector includes a flow path and a generator of acoustic waves in the flow path. Airborne particulate matter in the flow path responds to the acoustic field by particle agglomeration; the resulting larger particles flow into a photoelectric-type smoke sensor. A sensed level of particles can be processed, or compared to one or more predetermined thresholds to establish presence of one or more predetermined conditions.

Smoke detectors

A residential monitoring system incorporates both physiological sensors and activity sensors. Some of the sensors can be in wireless communication with control circuitry. One or more activity profiles can be established for a resident to expand upon and supplement information from the physiological sensors.

System for monitoring activities and location

An ambient condition detector has a housing that carries a sensor of an airborne constituent such as a gas, and a condenser for minimizing an inflow of moisture into the sensor. A filter can be used to reduce fluid flow velocity prior to passing through or by the condenser.

A gas sensor, which could be a sensor of combustible gases, incorporates a diffusion chamber having symmetrical sensing and reference portions. A common source emits infrared-type radiant energy symmetrically into the two portions. Each portion incorporates a curved reflective surface which reflects incident infrared onto a respective sensor. Each sensor has a filter which passes a different selected band of energy. A fluid, such as gas being sensed, passes laterally through the chamber.

A sensor of incident ambient photons is combined, in a detector with one or more sensors responsive to other types of ambient parameters such as gas, humidity, temperature or the like. Outputs from the sensors are processed to establish the existence of one of a hazardous condition, a non-hazardous condition and a false alarm.

Detector with ambient photon sensor and other sensors

A low profile, low volume smoke chamber displaces a light source, such as a light emitting diode or laser diode, and a sensor, such as photodiode or phototransistor, to the exterior of the sensing volume. A symmetrical sensing volume results which can be coupled to symmetrical input/output ports via a generally U-shaped flow path. A two part sensing chamber housing is formed with a lower cylindrical base portion and an upper cylindrical cover portion which slideably engage one another. At least the upper cylindrical portion carries a plurality of grooves for suppression of reflections and collection of dust. An exterior end of the upper portion carries a plurality of spaced apart openings which can be filled with a screen. A reduced sensing volume in combination with a selected screen size produces an acceptable signal to noise ratio and response rate while still excluding insects and other non-smoke related particulate matter.
