Detection of valve open time for solenoid operated fuel injectors

A flexible crank angle position sensing device and data structure is provided. The device allows a user to enter specific data into a data structure relating to an encoder wheel used to determine the position of the crank shaft. The specific data is stored in the device and can be recalled for use in specific engine implementations. Furthermore, a user can enter data to describe other encoder wheels associated with a cam shaft of an engine. A data structure relating to a cam shaft encoder wheel relates to the data structure relating to the crank shaft encoder wheel such that various positional information, regarding both the cam shaft and crank shaft, can be detected by the device.

Flexible crank angle position sensing

A multiplexing drive circuit for an AC ignition system having a common leg that includes two switches coupled in series, and one or more dedicated legs, wherein each leg includes two switches coupled in series. The multiplexing drive circuit also includes a transformer for each of the one or more dedicated legs, each transformer having a primary winding coupled between one of the one or more dedicated legs and the common leg, and wherein each transformer has a secondary winding coupled in parallel to a spark plug, and a pulse-width modulated (PWM) switch controller configured to operate the common leg and dedicated leg switches to control characteristics of the spark discharge for the spark plug. Wherein the switch controller is capable of real time diagnostic checks by monitoring the time at which a spark discharge event takes place.

Multiplexing drive circuit for an AC ignition system with current mode control and fault tolerance detection

A fail safe mechanism having a return member, valve stem extension, energy storage member, and locking assembly. The valve stem extension is driven by an electrical actuator and configured to drive the return member in a first direction and to be driven by the return member in a second direction. The energy storage member is configured to store energy when the electrical actuator causes the valve stem extension to drive the return member in the first direction and to release the energy stored therein when a disruption of power causes the return member to drive the valve stem extension in the second direction. The locking assembly is configured to hold the return member in a cocked position such that the valve stem extension rotates with the valve independently of the return member and free of influence from the energy storage member while the power is applied to the electrical actuator.

Fail safe mechanism for valve using a cock and lock return spring

A control valve module for gaseous fuels on spark ignited reciprocating engines is presented. The control valve module has a valve that controls gaseous fuel flow to a mixer or other device for air/fuel ratio control, an actuator for moving the valve position, and a controller. The controller receives a signal from a heated exhaust gas oxygen (HEGO) sensor that is an indication of the fuel/air ratio and actuates the valve to control the combustion mixture to a precise stoichiometric ratio.
