A system for rapidly steering a directive beam in an antenna is provided herein. The system includes: an antenna configured to produce a directive beam; means for steering the beam rapidly, along small angles; and means for steering the beam slowly, along large angles. According to one embodiment, the antenna is implemented as a phased array antenna, wherein the means for steering the beam rapidly, along small angles, is implemented as a phased array control, and wherein the means for steering the beam slowly, along large angles, is a mechanical mechanism implemented using gimbals. According to another embodiment, the antenna includes a main reflector and a sub reflector, and wherein the means for steering the beam rapidly, along small angles, mechanically controls the sub reflector, and wherein the means for steering the beam slowly, along large angles, mechanically controls the main reflector.

Method and system for extending operational electronic range of a vehicle

Aircraft decoy arrangement and method for generating a decoy signal from an aircraft having an isolated decoy. An aircraft receiver detects a threat signal from a threat source targeting the aircraft. An aircraft signal processor produces a decoy relay signal based on the threat signal, where the decoy relay signal frequency is significantly lower than the threat signal frequency and is slowly attenuated through air, the signal processor calibrating the decoy relay signal in accordance with a received test signal to compensate for inaccuracies. An aircraft transmitter transmits the decoy relay signal and an optional reference signal to the decoy, where it is received by a decoy receiver, converted back to a decoy signal by a decoy frequency converter, and transmitted by a decoy transmitter, causing the threat source to detect the decoy signal and lock onto the decoy rather than the aircraft.

Aircraft decoy arrangement

A tracking apparatus including a sensor tracker and a control tracker (). The sensor tracker is connected to a sensor which senses a scene having at least one object therein, the sensor tracker provides sensor movement instructions to the sensor, enabling it track a selected object. The control tracker is located remotely from and communicates with the sensor tracker. Additionally, the control tracker takes measurements regarding the selected object and provides tracking instructions to the sensor tracker. The sensor tracker then utilizes the tracking instructions to adjust the sensor movement instructions, when necessary.

A method of laser treatment of surfaces comprises the steps of: I) projecting onto the substrate surface laser pulses defining a beam; II) causing said beam and said surface to become relatively displaced in such a way that said beam will intersect at each number of pulses, preferably at each pulse, an area of said surface that is different from and non-adjacent to the area the beam intersected before said displacement; and III) continuing to cause that the beam and said surface to be treated so to become relatively displaced, until all of said strips have thus been treated by the laser beam.

Method and apparatus for the laser processing of substrate surfaces

A method for laser assisted polishing of a material layer to a desired surface, the method including the steps of setting up a laser beam in an XYZ coordinate system to ablate spurious material from the material layer at the desired surface and thereabove and scanning the laser beam across the material layer such that consecutive laser beam irradiate at least partially non-overlapping portions of the material layer and laser beam pulses from different directions in the XYZ coordinate system successively irradiate a given area of the material layer.

Laser assisted polishing

A device for extending the duration of a light pulse by a factor of an integer or by a factor which differs from an integer. The light pulse is passed through a device which divides the initial beam into a number of parts, where the first part passes unhindered while the subsequent parts of the beam are retarded and pass through the system after various delay periods, resulting in the desired extension of the pulse duration. The basic components of the novel device are spherical mirrors facing each other, a special reflector and a translation plate.

Laser pulse extender

There is provided a device and a method for the formation of a high-resolution image of a 3-dimensional object. The surface of the object is scanned stepwise by a linear detector matrix, so that the entire height of the object is covered. The arrangement is such that each horizontal 'slice' is in focus, for the specific altitude of the 'slice', and the information is fed to an image selector which evaluates the video images, selecting the 'in focus' information, and using this for the construction of the image. The system is based on a plurality of linear CCD detector arrays, which are used for scanning the surface of the object, the image selections mechanism and the mechanism for thus constructing the desired image.
