A linearized MIMO system which includes a MIMO receiver which comprises one or more receiving units, each receiving unit comprises one or more receiving antennas and an optional MIMO spatial decoder. The linearized MIMO system also includes a linearized MIMO transmitter, which comprises a plurality of non-linear power amplifiers at respective transmission branches, where each of the non-linear power amplifiers feeds a respective antenna with an amplified signal. The linearized MIMO system also includes a MIMO spatial pre-coder for receiving an artificial data signal from a global linearizer, and based on a channel state information of the medium (medium-channel), the linearized MIMO system creates a plurality of transmission branch-signals. Each of the branch signals feeds one of the non-linear power amplifiers, respectively. The global linearizer receives a data signal and creates the artificial data signal.

Method and system for the linearization of a MIMO communication scheme having nonlinear power amplifiers

A system for cancelling interference in a wireless network, the system comprising apparatus for computing and outputting at least N weighting vectors; and apparatus for cancelling interference from antennae outputs received by the system using the weighting vectors respectively by converting the weighting vectors into FIR filter coefficients and applying FIR filters corresponding to the FIR filter coefficients to derivatives of antennae outputs received by the system. The apparatus for computing and outputting weighting vectors may be operative by estimating a spatial signature while distinguishing interference spatial signature from desired signal spatial signature although both are received simultaneously.

A method for communication includes defining N respective symbol constellations in a signal space for N transmitters (), N(2, subject to a predetermined power constraint, so as to produce a joint constellation including superpositions of symbols selected from the N symbol constellations. Data is transferred from the N transmitters by simultaneously transmitting from M the N transmitters N respective symbols selected respectively from the N symbol constellations. A composite symbol including a superposition of the N transmitted symbols is received. The received composite symbol is demodulated using the joint constellation so as to reconstruct the data transferred from the N transmitters.

A method for communication includes defining N respective symbol constellations in a signal space for N transmitters (), N(2, subject to a predetermined power constraint, so as to produce a joint constellation including superpositions of symbols selected from the N symbol constellations. Data is transferred from the N transmitters by simultaneously transmitting from the N transmitters N respective symbols selected respectively from the N symbol constellations. The received composite symbol is demodulated using the joint constellation so as to reconstruct the data transferred from the N transmitters.

An adaptive rate management method and system for adapting a receiver rate to a transmission rate in a packet switch network comprises determining an error value at a sample rate, obtaining an updated accumulator value based on said error value Eat a decimated sample rate, and generating an appropriate rate command and changing said accumulator value at the decimated rate based on the updated accumulator value. The method may be adapted for either adapter point management or bit stuffing. When applied to adapter point management (APM), the method generates pointer adjustments for rate management. In a frequency locked APM preferred embodiment of the method and system, pointer adjustments in an interval are generated at a constant rate based on an average pointer adjustment value calculated in previous intervals.

Methods and systems for adaptive rate management, for adaptive pointer management, and for frequency locked adaptive pointer management

A method of transmitting data over power lines, a decoder of the transmitted data, and a lighting control system that uses the method. The data are represented as symbols that are encoded in groups of successive bursts of alternating signals, with each burst assigned one of M frequencies. Upon reception, the groups are decoded by a decoder that converts the received bursts into a binary form which is correlated with M binary reference signals by XORing and counting the resulting pulses up or down. The correlation values are added separately for each possible symbol value, with the highest score indicating the decoded symbol.

Power-line digital communication system

An underwater apparatus for transmitting and receiving high rate data and voice communication including a transmitter, a receiver, and a Doppler frequency shift compensator. The transmitter includes a data source comprising digital data to be transmitted by the apparatus through the water, a serial-to-parallel data processor for splitting the serial digital data into n parallel data channels, a n-channel modulator for receiving the n parallel data channels and for modulating those channels with n pairs of ultrasonic carriers to produce a modulated signal. The transmitter also includes a hydrophone for receiving and transmitting the modulated signal. The receiver includes a hydrophone for receiving a modulated signal. The receiver also includes RF circuitry for amplifying and shaping the received modulated signal, a serial-to-parallel data processor for splitting the amplified and shaped data into n parallel channels, a n-channel demodulator for demodulating the shaped signal and for outputting n channels of digital data, and a parallel-to-serial data processor for receiving n parallel channels of data from the demodulator and for combining those channels into serial data. The Doppler compensator measures the frequency of at least one of two unmodulated signals transmitted as part of the modulated signal and compares the measured frequency with a predetermined frequency. Operation of the demodulator is adjusted to compensate for any deviation between the measured and predetermined frequency.

Method and apparatus for carrying out high data rate and voice

A personal underwater communication device which comprises: A display; A memory unit for storing a plurality of preset messages, each message being assigned a common message identification code; Means for assigning a unique identification code to each personal device; Means for selecting one of said preset messages, to be transmitted to a receiving device; Means for selecting one or more receiving devices to which a message is to be transmitted; Means for producing a string encoding said message identification code and the identification code of the transmitting device; Means for modulating said string with at least one ultrasound acoustic modulating frequency, thereby to produce a modulated signal; Means for transmitting said modulated signal in water; Means in each device for receiving transmitted ultrasound acoustic modulated signals; Means for demodulating modulated signals which are received by said device, thereby to produce a demodulated string; Means for decoding a message from said demodulated string; and Means for displaying on the display of the receiving device the received message and the identification code of the transmitting device.
