A cleaning system for a set of instruments associated or in contact with an image plate readout device, as well as to a readout device that includes the cleaning system. The cleaning system includes a disinfecting element, which emits electromagnetic radiation and/or ultrasonic radiation capable of destroying disease carriers, and which is adapted to emit said radiation towards an image plate conveyor mechanism encompassed by the image plate readout device.

A method of disinfecting a readout device having a reader unit that reads an imaging medium, the method comprising: identifying an absence of the imaging medium from the inside of the readout device; and emitting, from a disinfecting element, radiation capable of destroying disease carriers onto an the interior of the readout device when the imaging medium is absent from inside the readout device.

The invention relates to a cleaning system for a set of instruments associated or in contact with an image plate readout device, as well as to a readout device comprising the cleaning system. The cleaning system comprises a disinfecting element, which emits electromagnetic radiation and/or ultrasonic radiation capable of destroying disease carriers, and which is adapted to emit said radiation towards an image plate conveyor mechanism encompassed by the image plate readout device.

X-ray imaging systems and methods utilize an imaging apparatus comprising an emitter emitting X-rays through an object and a receiver receiving the X-rays. A control circuit controls the emitter and processes the X-rays received by the receiver to generate X-ray images of the object. The control circuit controls a display to display an initial view of the object, the display of the initial view being modifiable by a user; controls the imaging apparatus to generate an X-ray positioning image of the object based upon a user modification of the display of the initial view; controls the display to display the positioning image, the display of the positioning image being modifiable by a user; and controls the imaging apparatus to generate an X-ray image of the object based upon a user modification of the display of the positioning image.

An imaging plate for use in computerized radiography has an individual plate identification adapted to be visible in an X-ray image and a further indication marked visibly on the plate. Imaging plates found to be damaged when the X-ray image is examined can be identified by the visible marking.

The invention relates to a method for imaging the head area by using a line detector camera ( ) equipped with a digital detector, at which camera is directed an X-ray beam ( ) through the object being imaged. In the method is used an apparatus ( ) which makes possible the implementation of cephalometric imaging and at least one other imaging method, such as panoramic imaging. The apparatus comprises an X-ray source ( ), a primary collimator ( ) in conjunction with the X-ray source, a line detector camera ( ), which is located to a position further away from the X-ray source ( ) for implementing cephalometric imaging and/or to a position closer to the said X-ray source for the said other imaging method, and a secondary collimator ( ) in the vicinity of the line detector camera ( ) intended for cephalometric imaging. In the method, the radiation emitted from the X-ray source ( ) is collimated in cephalometric imaging without turning the X-ray source in such a way that the ray beam ( ) bypasses the position of the line detector camera ( ) closer to the X-ray source ( ).
