A damping apparatus is disclosed having at least one magnet, a conducting member movable relative to the magnet, a cryogenic fluid, and a channel that confines the cryogenic fluid in contact with the conducting member. The cryogenic fluid may maintain the conducting member at cryogenic temperatures, thereby increasing a damping force provided by the conducting member to a payload.

Enhanced damping using cryogenic cooling

A damping apparatus is provided having a payload member, an extension member, and a damping member. The extension member is coupled to the payload member such that when the payload member moves a first distance, the extension member moves a second distance greater than the first distance. The damping member applies a damping force to the extension member when the extension member moves. The application of the damping force to the extension member causes a damping force on the payload member that is greater than the damping force on the extension member. The damping apparatus may utilize permanent magnets and conductive extension members to generate the damping force.

Enhanced damping using motion amplification

A shock mounting assembly for attaching a copier/printer to shock mounts aboard a vessel. The assembly includes two steel supporting members attached to the base of the copier/printer that are easily and quickly screwed into two nonparallel shock mount frames with four jack screws to raise the copier/printer off its casters and restrain it in a fixed position. The four jack screws make detachment from the shock mount assembly a simple and time efficient process for repairmen.

A modular tray which is insertable into the printing machine is arranged to have a stack of copy sheets disposed thereon. When one marginal region of the stack of copy sheets has a greater thickness than the other marginal region the sheets are supported such that at least the opposed marginal regions of the uppermost sheet of the stack of copy sheets are at substantially about the same level while that portion of a majority of the copy sheets with the thicker margin regions is downwardly supported at an acute angle with respect to the surface of the uppermost copy sheet in the stack.

Photoreceptor removal mechanism for a printing machine

A recording apparatus includes a two-piece universal non-dedicated high capacity feeder. The high capacity feeder has separate paper storage/handling and interface modules that enhance easy adaptation to most recorders by modification of only the interface module. Easy removal of the interface module from the cassette insertion slot of the recorder is made without disconnection of the paper handling module in order to make the slot available for any number of conventional cassettes.
