A seatback shell mounting device removably secures a seatback shell to a seatback frame. The seatback shell includes a support member with a base secured to the seatback shell and an outwardly extending arm with an elbow. The elbow is shaped to mate with an upper seatback frame element. A fastening member has a base secured to the seatback shell and an outwardly extending resilient lever arm with a cam surface and a step formed on an underside. The lever arm is shaped to define an underside cradle. The mounting device facilitates assembly and removal of a seatback shell onto a seatback frame.

Devices and method to removably secure a seatback shell to a seatback frame

A new easy-assemble seatback includes a seatback frame adapted to be connected to a seat. The seat back frame has a pair of opposite sides. The frame supports at least two flexible panels from a top panel connection so the panels hang and rotate freely from the connection on the frame. The panels are formed from a flexible material which may include wood, metal, metal alloy or plastic. Panel-to-frame assembly is done by hand. The frame includes a stop member connected to the frame that impedes free rotation of the flexible panels. Since the panels cover most all of the load bearing seatback area, fewer metal supportive elements are necessary. The new seatback is longer lasting, lighter in weight and more deployable as a result.

A journaled armrest for a furniture piece includes an arm with, a hollow bearing portion with a rigid inner journal member. The journal member has a torque-bearing end and a connecting end. The connecting end is adapted to be connected to a seatback of a furniture piece. The torque-bearing end has three equally spaced planar surfaces formed in each of first and second annular portions. Each planar surface has an indention formed in it. The armrest is cast by way of injection molding around the journal member so that each of the equally spaced planar surfaces is parallel to an interior wall of the bearing portion. The new armrest is lightweight and capable of withstanding extreme amounts of torque without shearing at the connecting end.

High torque-bearing armrest for furniture piece

An improved boat hull is described. The new hull includes a bow, a stern and a lower longitudinal keel extending between the bow and stern. The hull includes a first V hull formed at the bow and a second V hull formed aft the bow. The second V hull is defined by a bilaterally symmetrical indention having a forward end and a rearward end. The indention is directed rearwardly and outwardly from the lower longitudinal keel, and the rearward end of the indention is above the water line for displacement of water toward the stern on both the portside and starboard side of the boat. The new hull provides a smooth, less jarring ride, a reduction of drag forces, and an improved load along with increased deck area.

A self-leveling arm assembly is for use with an article of furniture that includes a back rest portion having an arm support. The back rest portion is connected to a seat portion at a first pivot, wherein the backrest portion is pivotable relative to the seat portion between a forward position and a backward position. The assembly includes an arm and at least one linkage member having a first and a second end. The first end is adapted to be pivotably connected to the seat portion, and the second end carries a cross pin for slidable engagement in a path formed in the aim support. The arm includes a pin at one end. The arm is adapted to be connected to the arm support at the one end to define an area of rotation, which includes rotation of the arm about the pin so that upon simultaneous rotation of the back portion and the linkage member about their respective pivots, the arm experiences vertical displacement, but substantially no angular displacement when the backrest is moved between the forward and the backward positions.

A spring wire retention device for a chair that includes a spring network with spring wires bridging an opening that defines a seat is disclosed. The spring wire retention device includes a retainer body with an abutment formed therein for preventing movement of the spring wire bridging the opening. A stop member is oppositely disposed from the abutment. Between the abutment and the stop member, a cavity is formed in the retainer body. A resilient member protrudes from within the cavity. The resilient member constantly urges the spring wire against the abutment. The invention may be cast in the form of a ring with a plurality of retainer bodies circumscribing the ring and supporting a spring network.
