A method and system for controlling exterior lights on a vehicle. The method includes receiving an input indicative of a desired mode of operation of the exterior lights from a user-selectable input device. The user-selectable input device includes an on-setting, an off-setting, and an automatic-setting. The method further includes receiving sensor data indicative of a level of visibility outside the vehicle, comparing the sensor data to a threshold, and generating, by an electronic processor, a notification indicative of an improper positioning of the user-selectable input device when the sensor data indicates that the level of visibility is less than the threshold and the user-selectable input device is positioned in the off-setting.

A hydraulic module includes a pump housing with an opening in communication with an exterior surface of the pump housing. A plurality of pump chambers are in communication with the opening. A plurality of pump elements correspond to the plurality of pump chambers, each of the plurality of pump elements being movable within the respective one of the pump chambers to increase the pressure in a fluid from a suction side of the pump chamber to a pressure side of the pump chamber. A motor has an output member extending into the opening of the pump housing and coupled with the plurality of pump elements. A channel is formed in the exterior surface of the pump housing. The channel establishes fluid communication between the plurality of pump chambers.

A hydraulic unit for an electronically controllable brake system of a vehicle includes a housing block with mounting faces for instance for an electric motor and an electronic control unit; a plurality of connections for hydraulically contacting the block; and installation chambers, for pump elements, valves, and damping devices. These damping devices are connected hydraulically downstream to the pump elements, in order to damp operation-caused pressure pulsations and noises. Installation chambers () for the damping devices and the installation chambers () of the valves extend to a common mounting face of the housing block intended for mounting the electronic control unit. The damping devices protrude past this mounting face.

The invention relates to a hydraulic unit for an anti-lock vehicle brake system, having a housing block with a first row of valve receiving chambers for receiving inlet valves, and a second row of valve receiving chambers for receiving outlet valves a pump receiving chamber, whose longitudinal axis extends at least approximately perpendicular to longitudinal axes of the valve receiving chambers and between the longitudinal axes of the valve receiving chambers of the first row and the longitudinal axes of the valve receiving chambers of the second row; low-pressure reservoir receiving chambers, which are disposed on a side, remote from the pump receiving chamber, of the valve receiving chambers of the second row, and whose longitudinal axis extends at least approximately perpendicular to the longitudinal axes of the valve receiving chambers and to the longitudinal axis of the pump receiving chamber; and a separate, direct connection between each valve receiving chamber of an outlet valve and an associated low-pressure reservoir receiving chamber.

Hydraulic unit for an anti-lock vehicle brake system

A hydraulic accumulator assembly for a hydraulic brake system. The accumulator assembly includes a pump housing having therein at least one accumulator bore. The accumulator bore has an axis and an inner wall. A piston is movable within the accumulator bore and divides the accumulator bore into an accumulator chamber, which is communicable with the hydraulic brake system, and a spring chamber. There is a spring in the spring chamber for biasing the piston in the direction of the accumulator chamber. A passageway in the pump housing is closely spaced from the inner wall so as to form a relatively thin wall thickness between the passageway and the inner wall. A vent bore is punched in the inner wall and communicates between the spring chamber and the passageway. The vent bore is punched in a direction away from the axis.

A rotor rides on the shaft end and is eccentric with respect to the rotational axis of the shaft. The rotor rotates in the bore of a pivot ring and coacts therewith in the nature of a double action pumping such that there are two pumping cycles per revolution of the shaft.
