Embodiments of a polyethylene composition are provided, which may include a first polyethylene fraction comprising at least one peak in a temperature range of from 40 C to 75 C in an elution profile via improved comonomer composition distribution (iCCD) analysis method, where a first polyethylene area fraction is an area in the elution profile from 40 C to 75 C, and where the first polyethylene fraction area comprises from 45% to 65% of the total area of the elution profile; and a second polyethylene fraction comprising at least one peak in a temperature range of from 85 C to 110 C in the elution profile, where a second polyethylene area fraction is an area in the elution profile from 85 C to 110 C, and where the second polyethylene fraction area comprises from 15% to 35% of the total area of the elution profile, wherein the polyethylene composition has a density of 0.905 g/cm3 to 0.918 g/cm3, a melt index (I) of 0.7 g/10 minutes to 3.5 g/10 minutes, and wherein the composition has a melt index ratio (I/I) that meets the following equation: I/I<7.0-1.2 log (I).

Polyethylene compositions, films, and articles

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to multilayer films. Embodiments of the multilayer films may include a first layer comprising a polyethylene composition having a density of 0.924 g/cmto 0.936 g/cmand a melt index (I) of 0.25 g/10 minutes to 2.0 g/10 minutes, a second layer comprising a first polyolefin, a third layer comprising a second polyolefin. The first layer may be positioned between the second layer and the third layer. The first polyolefin and the second polyolefin may be the same or different.

Multilayer films having at least three layers and methods of producing the same

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to multilayer films. Embodiments of the multilayer films may include a first layer comprising a first polyolefin, a second layer comprising a second polyolefin, a third layer comprising a third polyolefin, fourth layer comprising a fourth polyolefin, and a fifth layer comprising a fifth polyolefin. The second layer may be positioned between the first layer and the third layer; the third layer may be positioned between the second layer and the fourth layer; and the fourth layer may be positioned between the third layer and the fifth layer. Two or more of the first polyolefin, second polyolefin, third polyolefin, and fourth polyolefin may be the same or different. The third polyolefin may be a polyethylene composition having a density of 0.924 g/cmto 0.936 g/cmand a melt index (I) of 0.25 g/10 minutes to 2.0 g/10 minutes.

Multilayer films that include at least five layers and methods of producing the same

An ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer composition having a density from 0.935 to 0.955 g/cc; a ratio of weight average molecular weight to number average molecular weight, Mw/Mn, of from 3 to 10; a z-average molecular weight, Mz, from 200 kg/mol to 500 kg/mol; and a PENT value of greater than 500 hours at 80&#xb0; C. and 2.4 MPa; wherein when the composition is formed into a monolayer pipe the pipe has a pipe hydrostatic strength of greater than 100 hours at 20&#xb0; C. and 12.0 MPa. Also provided is a pipe or pipe fitting comprising the ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer composition.

Ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer composition, and articles comprising the same

The invention provides a composition comprising a first composition, comprising at least one ethylene-based polymer, and wherein the first composition comprises a MWCDI value greater than 0.9, and a melt index ratio I10/I2 that meets the following equation: I10/I2&#x2265;7.0&#x2212;1.2&#xd7;log (I2). The invention also provides a process to form a composition comprising at least two ethylene-based polymers, said process comprising the following: polymerizing ethylene, and optionally at least one comonomer, in solution, in the presence of a catalyst system comprising a metal-ligand complex of Structure I, as described herein, to form a first ethylene-based polymer; and polymerizing ethylene, and optionally at least one comonomer, in the presence of a catalyst system comprising a Ziegler/Natta catalyst, to form a second ethylene-based polymer.

Ethylene-based polymer composition for films with improved toughness

The instant invention provides a polyolefin composition suitable for sealant applications, sealant compositions, method of producing the same, and films and multilayer structures made therefrom. The polyolefin composition suitable for sealant applications according to the present invention comprises: an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer composition having a Comonomer Distribution Constant (CDC) in the range of from 40 to 110, vinyl unsaturation of less than 0.1 vinyls per one thousand carbon atoms present in the backbone of the ethylene-based polymer composition; a zero shear viscosity ratio (ZSVR) in the range of from 1.01 to 2.0; a density in the range of from 0.908 to 0.922 g/cm, a melt index (Iat 190&#xb0; C./2.16 kg) in the range of from 0.5 to 5.0 g/10 minutes, a molecular weight distribution (defined as the weight average molecular weight divided by the number average molecular weight, M/M) in the range of from 2.0 to 4.0, and tan delta at 0.1 radian/second, determined at 190&#xb0; C., in the range of from 5 to 50.

Sealant composition

The instant invention provides an ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer composition suitable for blown film applications, and blown films made therefrom. The ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer composition suitable for blown film applications according to the present invention comprises greater than 80 percent by weight of units derived from ethylene and 20 percent or less by weight of units derived from one or more alpha olefin co-monomers, wherein said ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer has a density in the range of from 0.910 to 0.918 g/cm, a melt index Iin the range of from 0.5 to 1.1 g/10 minutes, a melt flow ratio I/Iin the range of from 8 to 10, a melt strength in the range of from 3 to 6 cN, a highest temperature fraction in the range of from 11 to 14 percent determined by CEF, a highest peak temperature fraction by CEF in range of from 96 to 100&#xb0; C., and a lowest temperature fraction from CEF in the range of from 2 to 5 percent, and a DSC heat curve having three melting peaks with a highest temperature melting peak in the range of from 120 to 124&#xb0; C., a crystallinity in the range of from 40 to 50 percent.

Ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer composition

The instant invention provides a polyolefin composition suitable for packaging applications, films, multilayer structures and packaging devices made therefrom. The polyolefin composition according to the present invention comprises: an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer composition comprising (a) from 50 to 75 percent by weight of a first ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer fraction having a density in the range of 0.894 to 0.908 g/cm, a melt index (I) in the range of from 0.2 to 1 g/10 minutes, and (b) from 25 to 50 percent by weight of a second ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer fraction, and wherein said ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer composition has a density in the range of 0.910 to 0.924 g/cm, a melt index (I) in the range of from 0.5 to 2 g/10 minutes, a zero shear viscosity ratio (ZSVR) in the range of from 1.15 to 2.5, a molecular weight distribution, expressed as the ratio of the weight average molecular weight to number average molecular weight (M/M) in the range of from 2.0 to 4.0, and tan delta at 0.1 radian/second and 190&#xb0; C. in the range of from 6 to 43.

Polyolefin composition

The instant invention provides a polyolefin composition suitable for injection molding applications, and method of making such injection molded articles. The polyolefin composition suitable for injection molding applications comprises: an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer composition comprising: (a) from 25 to 50 percent by weight of a first ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer fraction having a density in the range of from 0.924 to 0.937 g/cm, a melt index (I) in the range of from 0.03 to 0.3 g/10 min, (b) from 50 to 75 percent by weight of a second ethylene homopolymer fraction having a density in the range of from greater than 0.960 g/cm, a melt index (I) in the range of from 100 to 180 g/10 minutes, wherein said ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer composition has a density in the range of from 0.950 to 0.958 g/cm, a melt index (I) in the range of from 1.0 g/10 min to 3.5 g/10 min, a zero shear viscosity ratio (ZSVR) in the range of from 1.01 to 2.5, a molecular weight distribution (M/M) in the range of from 2.0 to 4.0, and tan delta at 0.1 radian/second and 190&#xb0; C. in the range of from 9 to 50.

An interpolymer of ethylene and at least one alpha-olefin is claimed, wherein the ethylene interpolymer is characterized as having an average Mand a valley temperature between the interpolymer and high crystalline fraction, T, such that the average Mfor a fraction above Tfrom ATREF divided by average Mof the whole polymer from ATREF (M/M) is less then about 1.95 and wherein the interpolymer has a CDBI of less than 60%. The interpolymer of ethylene and at least one alpha-olefin can also be characterized as having a high density (HD) fraction and an overall density such that % HD fraction&#x3c;&#x2212;2733.3+2988.7x+144111.5 (x&#x2212;0.92325)where x is the density in grams/cubic centimeter. Fabricated articles comprising the novel interpolymers are also disclosed.
