A rotatable transmission component rotatable about an axis of rotation includes a first mounting member spaced apart from a second mounting member and a spindle extending from the first mounting member to the second mounting member. An axial location of the spindle between the first and second mounting members is maintained by interference connections between the spindle and the first and second mounting members. An outer diameter of a first end of the spindle is larger than an outer diameter of a second end of the spindle. The rotatable transmission component may be a planet carrier, and a planet gear may be supported on the spindle.

Stepped spindle

A transmission coupling assembly for transferring torque in a transmission from a first rotatable component to a second rotatable component and a method of assembling a transmission coupling assembly are disclosed. The transmission coupling assembly may comprise a first operative transmission component interconnected with a second operative transmission component. The first and second operative transmission components may each include a body adapted to be coupled to a respective one of the first and second rotatable components and a plurality of engagement features extending from the body along an axis of the respective operative transmission components. The plurality of engagement features are configured to intermesh during assembly of the transmission coupling assembly. The transmission coupling assembly may include a retainer received and positioned within recesses of the respective plurality of engagement features and compressed by a beveled surface of one of the plurality of engagement features during assembly.

Straight-sided radial flank architecture

A multi-speed transmission including a plurality of planetary gearsets and a plurality of selective couplers to achieve at least nine forward speed ratios is disclosed. The plurality of planetary gearsets may include a first planetary gearset, a second planetary gearset, a third planetary gearset, and a fourth planetary gearset. The plurality of selective couplers may include a number of clutches and a number of brakes. The multi-speed transmission may have four planetary gearsets and six selective couplers. The six selective couplers may include three clutches and three brakes.

Multi-speed planetary transmission

A power take-off (PTO) drive assembly for a transmission includes a shaft defining a shaft axis, a PTO gear defined radially about the shaft axis, and a clutch assembly positioned between the shaft and the PTO gear and having an engaged position and a disengaged position. When the clutch assembly is in the engaged position, torque is transferred from the shaft to the PTO gear. When the clutch assembly is in the disengaged position, torque is not transferred from the shaft to the PTO gear.

Transmission internal PTO clutch and method of control

A method of selectively controlling a power take-off (PTO) assembly includes positioning a clutch assembly radially between a shaft and a PTO gear, operably controlling the clutch assembly with a controller, and selectively engaging the clutch assembly with the controller. The controller monitors signals received from a plurality of sensors and compares the monitored signals with respective signal thresholds. The clutch assembly is engaged when the compared monitored signals are within the signal thresholds.
