A drive system for a rotorcraft includes first and second gearbox assemblies and a lubrication assembly. The lubrication assembly includes first and second lubrication systems and a valve connected between the first and second lubrication systems such that when the valve is in a first position, a test mode of operation of the lubrication assembly is enabled and when the valve is in a second position, a normal mode of operation of the lubrication assembly is enabled. The lubrication assembly also includes a valve control unit operable to instruct the valve to selectively move between the first position and the second position.

System for testing aircraft emergency lubrication system

A fluid pump system for an aircraft has a rotatable component having first and second fluid ports, each port in fluid communication with a selected interior portion of the component, the portions being spaced from each other. A valve controls allows a first flow rate through the first fluid port and allows a second flow rate through the second fluid port when the component is in a first angular orientation. The valve allows a third flow rate through the first fluid port and allows a fourth flow rate through the second fluid port when the component is in a second angular orientation.

Various implementations described herein are directed to an emergency lubrication system for a tiltrotor aircraft. The emergency lubrication system includes a pressurized material chamber, a lubrication chamber, a first valve between the pressurized material chamber and the lubrication chamber, a gearbox, and a second valve between the lubrication chamber and the gearbox. The first valve is configured to operate in a first mode when the emergency lubrication system is in a first configuration and a second mode when the emergency lubrication system is in a second configuration.

The planetary gear system includes a split double helical ring gear having a first ring gear with first helical ring teeth and a second ring gear with second helical ring teeth, a split double helical sun gear having a first sun gear with first helical sun teeth and a second sun gear with second helical sun teeth, a sun gear coupler coupling the first sun gear and the second sun gear; and a single-piece double helical planet pinion having a first helical planet teeth portion and a second helical planet teeth portion, where the first helical planet teeth mesh with the first helical sun teeth and the first helical ring teeth, and the second helical planet teeth mesh with the second helical sun teeth and the second helical ring teeth.

An example of an emergency lubrication system for an aircraft includes a lubricant tank configured to supply a lubricant to a gearbox of the aircraft, a tube coupled between the lubricant tank and the gearbox and comprising a check ball disposed within the tube, a first lubricant line coupled to the tube and a first inlet of the gearbox, and a second lubricant line coupled to the tube and a second inlet of the gearbox.

Passive planetary emergency lubrication system

A system for securing a bearing to a shaft includes a shaft having a raised portion extending radially outward from the shaft. The raised portion includes a first angled face on a first side of the raised portion and a second angled face on a second side of the raised portion. The bearing includes an outer race comprising a bearing surface on an inner face of the outer race, an inner race comprising a bearing surface on an outer face of the inner race and a third angled face on an inner face of the inner race that is configured to mate with the first angled face, and a plurality of rollers disposed between the inner and outer races.
