We provide an extracted conjunct polymer naphtha (), comprising a hydrogenated conjunct polymer naphtha, from a used ionic liquid catalyst, having a final boiling point less than 246&#xb0; C. (475&#xb0; F.), a Bromine Number of 5 or less, and at least 30 wt % naphthenes. We also provide a blended alkylate gasoline () comprising the extracted conjunct polymer naphtha (), and integrated alkylation processes to make the extracted conjunct polymer naphtha () and the blended alkylate gasoline (). We also provide a method to analyze alkylate products, by determining an amount of methylcyclohexane in the alkylate products ().

Extracted conjunct polymer naphtha

A junction is made between a first microfluidic substrate () having an elongate component () protruding from it and a second microfluidic substrate () having a corresponding conduit (). Each of the substrates has a pair of alignment features, for example planar orthogonal surfaces () or grooves () in opposite sides of the substrate. The substrates are placed on an alignment jighaving location features () corresponding to the alignment features. The elongate component can be surrounded by a compressible gasket). The substrates are pushed towards each other so that the elongate component enters the conduit and the gasket, if any, is compressed. A fluid-tight junction results so long as the substrates are maintained in the necessary position, either by permanent means, or, if a junction which can be disassembled is needed, by maintaining pressure between the substrates. Novel apparatus and novel microfluidic assemblies, including microfluidic chips having grooves in their sides, are described.

Microfluidic connections

A microfluidic detection device provides reduced dispersion of axial concentration gradients in a flowing sample. The microfluidic detection device includes a cell body and a flow path through the cell body. The flow path has an inlet segment, an outlet segment, and a central segment, which forms a detection cell. The central segment is located between and at an angle with both the inlet segment and the outlet segment. The central segment has a first junction with the inlet segment and a second junction with the outlet segment. The cell body contains two arms that can transmit light to and from the detection cell. At least a portion of a first arm is located in the first junction and at least a portion of a second arm is located in the second junction. The portions of the arms located in the junctions are situated so that fluid entering or exiting the central segment of the flow path flows around the outer surface of one of the portions. By ensuring that the flow velocity is high near the walls both at the beginning and at the end of the conduit, the configuration serves to counteract dispersion caused by the normal parabolic velocity profile of flow through a cylindrical conduit, where the fluid velocity is highest at the center. In addition, the configuration promotes efficient sweeping of the entire volume between the two arms. A method for manufacturing the microfluidic detection device is also provided.

A method for multiplexed optical detection includes: imaging light onto an input face of a first optical fiber, wherein the first optical fiber is a multimode optical fiber; inducing coupling among the propagation modes of the light in the first optical fiber; coupling an output face of the first optical fiber to input faces of multiple individual second optical fibers in a multi-fiber bundle, wherein each output face of the individual fibers emits substantially similar light; and detecting one or more properties of one or more fluids, including analytes that may be present, with the light emitted from at least one of the second optical fibers. The second optical fibers can be a part of an optical detector that is part of a high performance liquid chromatography system, which can be located in a substrate.
