A pump is provided having an impeller in combination with a power transmission shaft. The impeller has a tapered bore with impeller threads. The power transmission shaft has a shaft end with tapered threads configured to couple directly to the impeller threads of the tapered bore of the impeller, to transmit torque directly through the tapered threads, and to provide self axial or radial alignment even if the coupling of the tapered threads and the impeller threads of the tapered bore start out of alignment. The tapered thread configuration substantially reduces investment in lifting equipment and time by maintenance personnel because it eliminates the need for maintenance personnel to precisely align the impeller threads and the tapered threads before attaching or removing the impeller and the tapered threads release much more quickly from the impeller than a standard thread configuration, reducing the number of turns the power transmission shaft must be rotated by hand to free it from the impeller.

A pump features a casing assembly having a region through which high velocity fluid and solids circulate, a chamber where they do not, an aperture that allows a related-chamber to be in fluidic communication with the region, but not the circulating high velocity fluid and solids, and a corresponding aperture to allow the related-chamber to communicate with an external region outside the casing assembly; and a rupture disc received in the corresponding aperture to close the related-chamber subjects the related-chamber and the rupture disc to pressure contained within the region and to release pressure exceeding a predetermined relief pressure of the rupture disc from the related-chamber to the external region or location, and exhaust piping couple the rupture disc to provide a path for escaping vapor and solids to be directed to the external region or location where the energy can be dissipated.

In a pump arrangement, each adjusting screw has first and second end portions, a third intermediate raised portion, and a fourth portion to allow each adjusting screw to be rotated clockwise/counterclockwise. Each first end portion passes through a suction liner aperture so left-handed threads couple to a respective left-handed seal ring aperture. Each second portion passes through a suction half casing aperture so the fourth portion can be accessed to allow clockwise/counterclockwise rotation of each adjusting screw. Each adjusting screw rotates clockwise and moves until the third portion pushes against the suction half casing, so the screw stops moving and the seal ring moves away from the suction liner as the screw is rotated clockwise, or rotates counterclockwise and moves until the third portion pushes against the suction liner, so the screw stops moving and the seal ring moves towards the suction liner as the screw is rotated counterclockwise.

Method and apparatus for adjusting impeller/ring clearance in a pump

The present invention provides a new and unique method and apparatus for monitoring a device, such as a pump. The device may also include a fan, compressor, turbine or other rotating or reciprocating piece of machinery. In one embodiment, the method features sensing in a first device both a start-up vibration at a start-up time after the first device is affixed to a second device to be monitored and a subsequent vibration level at a subsequent time after the start-up time, and providing both a start-up vibration level signal containing information about the start-up vibration level of the second device, and a subsequent vibration level signal containing information about the subsequent vibration level of the second device; and monitoring in the first device the condition of operation of the second device based on a comparison of the start-up vibration level signal in relation to the subsequent vibration level signal. The apparatus may take the form of one or more modules and/or chipset for performing the steps and functionality of the aforementioned method.

Compact self-contained condition monitoring device

A syringe including a barrel (), a retractable needle () and a plunger rod assembly () including inner () and outer () members with a stopper () for expelling fluids from the syringe is disclosed. An activation member () associated with the plunger rod permits relative movement of the inner and outer members when activated. The stopper is configured to compress a sufficient amount when advanced distally in the barrel to cause the activation element to engage and cause retraction of the needle within the syringe.

An adapter for a multiple capacity needle immobilizing device having a body portion and entry holes for allowing the distal ends of sharp needles to enter the body includes a base having a top portion and a bottom portion. The bottom portion having apertures positioned to align with the entry holes of the immobilizing device. A non-circular funnel projects upwardly from each of the entry holes to a funnel opening in the top portion of the adapter. The funnel opening is larger when measured perpendicularly to a line extending through the apertures of the adapter than when measured along this line. Structure is provided for connecting the adapter to the needle immobilizing device.

An inline mixer has a casing and a rotor. The casing has an inlet for receiving a chemical and a process flow media, an inner surface defining a cavity therein, a stationary vane arranged obliquely on the inner surface in relation to the direction of flow of the chemical and process flow media, a transverse stationary vane arranged on the inner surface substantially perpendicularly in relation to the direction of flow of the chemical and process flow media, and an outlet for providing a mixture of the chemical and process flow media. The rotor is arranged in the cavity of the casing and has rotary vanes that rotatably cooperate with the stationary vane and the transverse stationary vane for mixing the chemical and process flow media. The transverse stationary vane is a straight or bent plate in relation to the direction of flow of the mixture.

A bearing assembly for radially supporting a drive shaft of a pump such as a vertical sump and process pump. The bearing assembly has a bearing housing, a bearing having inner and outer surfaces, a bearing housing for holding the bearing, seals disposed in the housing for retaining a lubricant pumped into a space formed between the inner surface of the bearing and the drive shaft, and at least one water jacket disposed about a portion of the outer surface of the bearing. The water jacket circulates cooling liquid that contacts the outer surface of the bearing and carries away heat conducted through the bearing due to rotation of the drive shaft during operation of the pump.

Sealed steady bearing assembly for non-metallic vertical sump and process pumps

A method for attachment to an overhead crane for removing the bearing assembly from a vertical centrifugal pump system without removing the motor. The apparatus includes a rigid C-shaped frame which is attached by a pulley to an overhead crane and also includes a pivotal attachment on the opposite end of the frame which is removably connected to the bearing assembly. Intermediate and vertically aligned with the ends of the frame is a horizontal displacement control member which is removably connected to the bearing assembly at a point vertically above the pivotal attachment. Horizontal displacement of the horizontal displacement control member will cause a rotating of the bearing assembly about the pivotal attachment allowing clearance and lateral removal of the bearing assembly from the vertical pump system.
