This disclosure provides a hybrid well capping stack system that uses a lower ram blow-out preventer (BOP) coupled to a gate valve-based capping stack that has first and second flowlines where the first flowline has a gate valve and the second flowline has a gate valve. At least one of the first and second flowlines is located on the frame to divert a flow of fluid laterally from a central flow axis of a wellbore.

Rapid response well control assembly

A well containment assembly comprising a first pressure-containing device and a diverter spool. The diverter spool comprises a body having a longitudinal central axis and at least partially defining a primary flowbore, an upper connection assembly coupled to the body, a lower connection assembly coupled to the body, and a plurality of side outlets. Each of the plurality of side outlets has a longitudinal central axis and at least partially defines a secondary flowbore. Each of the plurality secondary flowbores is in communication with the primary flowbore, and the angle between the longitudinal central axis of the body and the longitudinal central axis of the plurality of side outlets is less than 90&#xb0; with respect to the primary flowbore. The first pressure-containing device is coupled to the diverter spool via the upper connection assembly.
