In a video processing system, a method and system for generating a transform size syntax element for video decoding are provided. For high profile mode video decoding operations, the transform sizes may be selected based on the prediction macroblock type and the contents of the macroblock. A set of rules may be utilized to select from a 4.&#xd7;.4 or an 8.&#xd7;.8 transform size during the encoding operation. Dynamic selection of transform size may be performed on intra-predicted macroblocks, inter-predicted macroblocks, and/or direct mode inter-predicted macroblocks. The encoding operation may generate a transform size syntax element to indicate the transform size that may be used in reconstructing the encoded macroblock. The transform size syntax element may be transmitted to a decoder as part of the encoded video information bit stream.

Method and system for generating a transform size syntax element for video decoding

Devices and techniques are generally described for a doorbell camera circuit architecture. In some examples, at least one processor of a doorbell device may generate a first control signal. The at least one processor may send the first control signal to a power-switching control circuit of the doorbell device. The power-switching control circuit may receive a first input electrical signal. The power-switching control circuit may store at least a portion of energy associated with the first input electrical signal in a plurality of capacitors of the power-switching control circuit. The power-switching control circuit may supply power from the plurality of capacitors to a camera of the doorbell device during a first state of the control signal. In various examples, the power-switching control circuit may supply power from the battery to the camera of the doorbell device during a second state of the control signal.

Techniques are generally described for motion detection by supplying voltage pulses to a radio frequency (RF) circuit. In some examples, an RF motion detection circuit may output a first RF signal based at least in part on a first voltage pulse. In some further examples, the RF motion detection circuit may receive a second RF signal, the second RF signal being the first RF signal reflected from an environment external to the RF motion detection circuit. In some further examples, the first RF signal and the second RF signal may be mixed to generate a difference component signal. A first output voltage representing the difference component signal may be generated. In some examples, the first output voltage may be used to detect motion in the environment.

Techniques are generally described for controlling a camera to capture video based on one or more auxiliary motion sensors. First data indicative of motion may be received from a first motion sensor at a camera. In some examples, the first motion sensor may have a first field-of-view. Second data indicative of motion may be received from a second motion sensor at the camera device. In some examples, the second motion sensor may have a second field-of-view different than the first field-of-view. A determination may be made that the first data temporally corresponds to the second data. In some examples, an image sensor of the camera may capture first image data in response to the first data indicative of motion and the second data indicative of motion.

A security network provides reduced power consumption and more robust communication of messages in comparison to conventional wireless systems. Reducing power consumption as discussed herein ensures that the security system is able to operate for a long duration of time, potentially with minimal or no power from an electrical grid. Additionally, redundant communication paths as discussed herein provide a more robust way of selectively forwarding security data to a remote server. The availability of multiple communication paths ensures that a respective remote target recipient such as a server resource or remote communication device operated by a user can be notified of a trigger event during power failure conditions, such as when certain communication functionality of a security system is disabled.

The image processing system stores a previously outputted output frame. The previously outputted output frame is derived from previously processed input frames in the sequence. The image processing modifies the current input frame based on detected first motion and second motion. The first motion is detected based on an analysis of the current input frame with respect to the next input frame. The second motion is detected based on an analysis of the current input frame with respect to the previously outputted output frame. According to one configuration, the image processing system implements multi-sized analyzer windows to more precisely detect the first motion and second motion.

The method comprises receiving an estimates of amounts of data for encoding earlier pictures; providing target rates based on the estimates of data for encoding the earlier pictures; receiving measures indicative of the actual data for encoding the earlier pictures; and providing at least one target rate for encoding at least one later picture based on the target rates for encoding the earlier pictures and the measures indicative of the actual data for encoding the earlier pictures.
