An office chair includes a tilt control mechanism which connects a seat assembly to a base. The tilt control mechanism defines a pivot connection between the seat assembly and the base whereby the seat assembly effectively pivots about a pivot point in any direction extending radially from the pivot point. The tilt control mechanism includes an annular elastomeric ring which resists multi-directional tilting and biases the seat assembly to a neutral position. The elastomeric ring is adjustable axially toward and away from the pivot point to adjust resistance to tilting.

Universal tilt mechanism for a chair

An office chair includes a tilt control mechanism which connects a seat assembly to a base. The tilt control mechanism defines a pivot connection between the seat assembly and the base whereby the seat assembly effectively pivots about a pivot point in any direction extending radially from the pivot point. The tilt control mechanism includes an annular elastomeric ring which resists multi-directional tilting and biases the seat assembly to a neutral position. The elastomeric ring has a contact area on which the tilting moment of the seat assembly acts which contact area can be selectively varied to adjust tilting resistance.

Tilt mechanism for chair having adjustable spring characteristics

An operator-interactive adjustable workstation including a support frame, a seat adapted for engagement with an operator, and a worksurface having an enlarged upper surface. A motion connecting structure connects between the frame, seat and worksurface for permitting the positions of the seat and worksurface to be simultaneously adjusted relative to the frame. An operator-interactive structure interconnects to the connecting structure for controlling position-adjusting movement of the seat and worksurface in response to an operator-imposed controlling force. A manually-releasable brake cooperates with the connecting structure for normally maintaining it in a fixed positional relationship to define stationary positions for the seat and worksurface.

Operator-interactive adjustable workstation

A chair having a base adapted for support on a floor, a seat-back arrangement for accommodating an occupant, and an upright telescopic height adjustable pedestal assembly connected vertically between the base and the seat-back arrangement for supporting the latter and permitting the height thereof to be vertically adjusted. The height adjustable pedestal assembly include a first height adjusting mechanism having a predetermined vertical stroke defined between upper and lower stroke limiting positions for permitting the height of the seat-back arrangement to be adjusted to any position along said stroke; and a second height adjusting mechanism defining at least upper and lower vertically-spaced range positions for permitting the vertical length of the pedestal assembly to be respectively increased and decreased, whereby the seat-back arrangement can be subjected to the predetermined vertical stroke of the first height adjustment mechanism when in either of the upper and lower range positions. The first and second height adjusting mechanisms are connected vertically in series, and each is independently operable.
