A fiber holder is provided which includes first and second holder plates having first and second main surfaces, respectively. The first holder plate includes a first channel insert including a first fiber channel configured to receive a fiber therein, and a first insert channel disposed on the first main surface such that the first insert channel extends through a length of the first main surface and is configured to receive the first channel insert. The second holder plate includes a second channel insert including a second fiber channel configured to receive the fiber therein, and a second insert channel disposed on the second main surface such that the second insert channel extends through a length of the second main surface and is configured to receive the second channel insert. The first and second channel inserts are disposed within the first and second insert channels, respectively.

An apparatus for splicing a fiber optic cable comprises a clamp for clamping a first portion of a first fiber optic cable, a bail for connecting the clamp to a support structure, a splice closure for splicing a second portion of the first fiber optic cable to a second fiber optic cable, and means for connecting the splice closure to the bail. A method of splicing a fiber optic cable, using the apparatus is also included.

Taut sheath splicing apparatus

Provided is a spliced-on connector system which includes a connector body, an incoming fiber which is spliced to the connector body, a splice sleeve which covers a splice point at which the incoming fiber is spliced to the connector body, and an extender tube which covers the splice sleeve. Also provided is a method of producing the spliced-on connector system; a holder including a depression which holds a connector body in a position in which the connector body is spliced to an incoming fiber, the holder being disposed inside a splicer which splices the connector body to the incoming fiber; and a splicer including a tube heater which heat-shrinks a splice sleeve over a splice point at which a connector body is spliced to an incoming fiber, the tube heater accommodating the connector holder which holds the connector body.

A method of splicing a fiber optic cable including applying a clamp to a first portion of a fiber optic cable, using a bail to connect the clamp to a support structure, connecting a splice closure to the bail, connecting an aerial splicing platform to the bail and splicing a second portion of the fiber optic cable to a second fiber optic cable in the splice closure.

Method for taut sheath splicing of all-dielectric, self-supporting fiber optic cable

A quick release bow fishing device is provided. The device allows for a quick connect and disconnect of a fishing rod and reel from an archery bow. The device is comprised of a connecting shaft that attaches to the bow at the socket conventionally employed for a stabilizer attachment. The fishing rod is provided with a longitudinally bored channel within the handle to receive the shaft. The shaft is constructed so that trigger catch means engage the shaft to restrict relative motion of the shaft within the channel thus holding the bow and rod together. The trigger catch release is located on the handle for easy manipulation by the operator to effect a release of the shaft for a quick disconnect of the rod from the bow. Another embodiment of the device is provided with the shaft having radial arms to engage retaining slots in the rod handle.
