According to an aspect, an inflatable penile prosthesis includes an inflatable member, a reservoir configured to hold fluid, and a reversible flow pump assembly configured to facilitate a transfer of the fluid from the reservoir to the inflatable member when in an inflation mode, and facilitate the transfer of the fluid from the inflatable member to the reservoir when in a deflation mode. The reversible flow pump assembly includes a pump, an input check valve coupled to the pump, an output check valve coupled to the pump, and a reversing valve. The input check valve is configured to permit transfer of fluid into the pump. The output check valve is configured to permit transfer of fluid out of the pump. The reversing valve is configured to switch between the inflation mode and the deflation mode.

According to an aspect, an implant including an inflatable member and a pump assembly configured to facilitate a transfer of a fluid from the reservoir to the inflatable member. The inflatable member defines a lumen and includes a structural member. At least a portion of the structural member is disposed within the lumen defined by the inflatable member. In some implementations, the implant includes a reservoir configured to hold fluid.

According to an aspect, an inflatable penile prosthesis includes an inflatable member, a reservoir configured to hold fluid, and a pump assembly configured to facilitate a transfer of the fluid from the reservoir to the inflatable member when the prosthesis is in an inflation mode and facilitate a transfer of the fluid from the inflatable member to the reservoir when the prosthesis is in a deflation mode. The pump assembly includes a pump, a valve body having a first valve and a second valve, and a selection member defining a lumen, the selection member being movable from a first position to place the prosthesis in the inflation mode and a second position to place the prosthesis in the deflation mode.

Embodiments of a surgical laser systems may include a laser source configured to generate a laser energy; a laser fiber optically coupled to the laser source to discharge laser energy; a photodetector configured to generate an output signal indicative of an intensity level of electromagnetic energy feedback produced in response to the discharge of the laser energy; and a controller configured to control the laser source based on the output signal. Embodiments of a method of controlling a surgical laser system also are disclosed, wherein laser energy is generated using a laser source and discharged through a laser fiber. Electromagnetic energy feedback produced in response to discharging the laser energy is delivered to a photodetector. An output signal from the photodetector is analyzed using a controller. The laser source is controlled in response to analyzing an output signal using the controller.

The optical device also includes a fiber cap having an interior cavity and an opening to the interior cavity, where the distal end of the optical fiber core is received within the interior cavity through the opening. A cladding is included on the distal end of the optical fiber core between the optical fiber core and the fiber cap.

Embodiments of the invention are directed to a laser ablation system. In one embodiment, the laser ablation system comprises a shaft, a balloon, a laser fiber and a viewing fiber. The shaft has a proximal end and a distal end. The balloon is attached to the distal end of the shaft, a portion of which is within the balloon. The laser fiber has a distal end comprising a light dispenser that is configured to deliver laser light through the balloon. The viewing fiber is configured to image an interior balloon. In accordance with another embodiment, the laser ablation system comprises a shaft, a balloon and a laser fiber. The shaft has a proximal end and a distal end. The balloon is attached to the distal end of the shaft, which is within the balloon. The balloon includes an inflated state, in which the balloon is shaped to conform to a cavity of a patient. The laser fiber has a distal end comprising light dispenser that is configured to deliver laser light through the balloon.

Laser tissue ablation system

A laser system includes a laser element, a pump source configured to input light to the laser element, a first cooling circuit and a second cooling circuit. The first cooling circuit includes a first pump configured to drive a first flow of cooling liquid through a first fluid pathway, a first primary heat exchanger configured to cool the first flow of cooling liquid, and a laser element heat exchanger configured to remove heat from the laser element using the first flow of cooling liquid. The second cooling circuit includes a second pump configured to drive a flow of cooling liquid through a second fluid pathway, a second primary heat exchanger configured to cool the second flow of cooling liquid, and a pump source heat exchanger configured to remove heat from the pump source using the first and second flows of cooling liquid.

Methods of operating a laser system chiller

Embodiments of a laser ablation system include a shaft, a balloon and a laser fiber. The shaft has a proximal end and a distal end. The balloon is attached to the distal end of the shaft, a portion of which is disposed within the balloon. A light dispenser at a distal end of the laser fiber is configured to deliver laser light through the balloon. A central axis of the balloon is aligned with a longitudinal axis of the shaft. The balloon has a variable transparency such that the transmission of laser light through the balloon is non-uniform along the central axis. Accordingly, an energy of laser light transmitted from the light dispenser through the balloon to the targeted tissue varies due to the variable transparency of the balloon.

A laser system includes a laser element, a pump source configured to input light to the laser element, a first heat exchanger, a pump source heat exchanger, a laser element heat exchanger, and a pump. The first heat exchanger is configured to cool a first flow of cooling liquid. The pump source heat exchanger is configured to remove heat from the pump source using the first flow of cooling liquid. The laser element heat exchanger is configured to remove heat from the laser element using a second flow of cooling liquid. The pump is configured to drive the first and second flows of cooling liquid.

An ablation device comprises a balloon having an open proximal end and a closed distal end. A cylindrical tube extends into the balloon through the proximal end. An end support member is positioned at the distal end of the balloon. The end support member comprises a cylindrical portion facing the proximal end of the balloon. The cylindrical portion is received within a bore at the distal end of the tube. A seal is formed between the proximal end of the balloon and the cylindrical tube.
