Link used variables are defined for links related to an interconnection fabric. The links used variables are representative of whether or not a link is used for handling flows between a plurality of hosts and devices. Constraints for links, and hop counts or port counts are also defined. An objective function is used by an integer programming solver to determine connections as a function of the definitions.

Embodiments include methods, apparatus, and systems for choosing nodes in a multi-network. One embodiment includes a method that receives demand characteristics for nodes to form a cluster in multi-network and collapses groups of nodes in the multi-network to form a node group. The method then selects nodes that satisfy the demand characteristics in order to form the cluster.

A storage system includes plural storage units having respective storage controllers and associated caches. A first one of the storage units further includes an internal workload generator to initiate a data operation with respect to at least one destination storage unit, where the data operation is associated with tag information to affect a caching algorithm used by the cache of the at least one destination storage unit. The at least one destination storage unit includes at least one of the plural storage units.

Affecting a caching algorithm used by a cache of storage system

A storage area network resistant to spoofing attack has several nodes each having a port, and storage area network interconnect interconnecting the ports. Each port is provided with a hash function generator for providing and verifying an authentication code for frames transmitted over the storage area network, and a key table for providing a key to the hash function generator. The authentication code is generated by applying a hash function to the key and to at least an address portion of each frame. In each node, the key is selected from that node's key table according to address information of the frame.
