Embodiments include a check valve that comprises a valve body defining an inlet port and an outlet port; a disc disposed within the valve body, wherein the disc is coupled to a pivot shaft and the pivot shaft is coupled to the valve body; a lever arm coupled to the disc, wherein when the disc rotates the lever arm rotates; an actuator shaft couple to a motor, and a first interference element coupled to the actuator shaft, wherein the lever arm contacts the first interference element when the disc is in a maximum open position; wherein when the motor rotates the actuator shaft moves longitudinally along its axis to move the first interference element thereby changing the maximum open position. Other embodiments are also included herein.

Check valve control unit

The system controls of a pneumatically operated valve using an electrical control signal from a controller. A pilot circuit of the system has multiple piezo valves that are subject to electrical signals from the controller to provide pneumatic output signals to a volume booster circuit of the system. Relatively small volume pneumatic pilot signals from the piezo valves are used to determine the opened or closed state of higher volume valve assemblies of the booster circuit which connect or disconnect the actuator of the valve to be operated with a source of pressurized gas. Both the piezo valves and the booster valve assemblies are subjected to gas at the same operating pressure, but the surface area of pistons in the booster valve assemblies exposed to the piezo valves is substantially larger than the surface area of the pistons exposed to operating pressure such that the pneumatic signals shift the pistons even when pressure is the same on both sides thereof. Both singe-acting and double-acting embodiments are disclosed, as well as alternative versions of booster valve assemblies such as having a primary piston and a secondary piston. The secondary piston permits partial flow while the primary piston permits full flow when actuated.

Pneumatic volume booster for valve positioner

A rotary control valve includes a flow control element having a lower valve shaft rotatably received in a non-magnetic body portion. A magnet is coupled with a lower valve shaft and rotatable therewith to produce an external magnetic field that varies in accordance with the angular position of the flow control element. A magnetic field detector, positioned in the external magnetic field, is operable to detect the external magnetic field and to produce position signals representative thereof, such being indicative of the angular position of the flow control element.

A compensating coupler uses spring coupling legs and tabs to connect a rotary (reciprocating) input drive to a rotary (reciprocating) output drive. The coupler exhibits very low backlash and compensates for misalignment between the input and output drives.

Apparatus for mechanical coupling such as an actuator to a valve includes an elongated drive member having an axial extremity having a drive surface and an elongated driven member having an axial extremity having a drive surface. One of the drive surfaces is an internal surface which has a polygon shaped cross section and one of the drive surfaces is an external drive surface which has a polygon shaped cross section. In some embodiments first and second sleeves including a plurality of wedge surfaces having generally planar faces are inserted between the drive and driven surfaces. In other forms of the invention the internal drive surface has four wedge shaped faces and a single sleeve having wedge shaped faces is inserted between the drive and driven member. The drive and driven members are disposed with the drive surfaces disposed in nested axially overlapping relationship with the wedge shaped surfaces disposed radially intermediate the respective drive surfaces. Apparatus is provided to urge the wedge shaped surfaces of the first and second sleeves intermediate the drive surfaces of the drive and driven member.

A valve actuator including a link arm having an adjustable wedge shaped aperture mounted in a circumferial recess of a coupling shaft having a wedge shaped cross-section in the circumferial recess. A coupling clamp is adjustably mounted in a second circumferial recess of the coupling shaft to secure a valve shaft received in an axial recess of the coupling shaft.
