Distributed optical tapping architectures include two or more optical tap terminals daisy-chained together. Each optical tap terminal includes an environmentally sealed enclosure; an optical tapping circuit positioned within an interior of the enclosure, the optical tapping circuit including an tap input, a tap pass-through output, and a tap drop output; and hardened interface locations (e.g., de-mateable fiber optic connection locations, cable-pass through glands, etc.) corresponding to the tap input, the tap pass-through output and the tap drop output.

Distributed tap architecture incorporating hardened connectivity

A passive optical network includes one or more multi-service terminals each having a housing and a plurality of ruggedized plug-receiving distribution ports accessible from outside the housing. The multi-service terminals also each include an optical power splitter or wave division multiplexer for splitting an optical signal and directing the split signal to the plug-receiving distribution ports. Some of the multi-service terminals provide a different power split ratio from others of the multi-service terminals.

Interconnect cabinets for optical fibers include an enclosure and a splitter and termination panel mounted in the enclosure. The splitter has a plurality of optical fiber-connectorized pigtails extending therefrom. Each of the connectorized pigtails is associated with an optical fiber feeder cable to be coupled to a central office. The termination panel has a plurality of optical fiber connection members, ones of which are associated with respective subscriber locations. The connectorized pigtails have a cable length sufficient to allow connection to the plurality of connection members.

The present disclosure relates to an optical fiber distribution system that can be expanded to selectively add a number of ruggedized fiber optic adapter ports for connecting to customer premises.

Interconnect cabinets for optical fibers include an enclosure and a splitter and termination panel mounted in the enclosure. The splitter has a plurality of optical fiber connectorized pigtails extending therefrom. Each of the connectorized pigtails is associated with an optical fiber feeder cable to be coupled to a central office. The termination panel has a plurality of optical fiber connection members, ones of which are associated with respective subscriber locations. The connectorized pigtails have a cable length sufficient to allow connection to the plurality of connection members.

A fiber optic splice closure includes a housing, a support within the housing, at least one splice organizer pivotally connected to the support, and a slack storage holder pivotally connected to the support. The support may be connected to an interior of a first housing portion adjacent end thereof. The support preferably includes portions defining a plurality of pivotal mounting locations. The slack storage holder is pivotally connected at a first pivotal mounting location of the support and is pivotally movable between a stored position and a raised position. The slack storage holder when in the stored position is preferably generally parallel to and in spaced apart relation from adjacent interior portions of the first housing portion. Accordingly, the slack storage holder thus preferably defines a fiber routing area with adjacent housing portions. The slack storage holder can be moved to the raised position facilitating access to the fiber routing area. The slack storage holder includes a loop storage basket formed from a base panel and opposing side walls and a rear wall support member that is adjustable in position to the loop storage basket.
