In accordance with the present invention, a headlamp beam alignment indicating and calibrating device includes a roller element arranged for rolling movement relative to a guide structure, and an indicator for indicating displacement of the roller member resulting from the rolling movement thereof relative to the guide structure. The guide structure is secured to the adjustable beam alignment portion of the headlamp for movement therewith so that any motion of the beam alignment structure results in movement of the guide structure indicated by a relative displacement of the roller element. In a preferred embodiment, the guide structure is an elongate track which is mounted on an adjustable beam alignment reflector wall of the headlamp. The movement of the reflector wall causes the coupled track to move and induce gravitational rolling of a ball in apparent relative displacement along the guide track.

Headlamp level indicator

A simplified adjusting mechanism for adjusting the aiming of a headlamp assembly in automobiles and the like includes a gear encircling a bushing and an adjustor screw that is journaled through the bushing. The adjustor mechanism is snapped into a stationary component of the headlamp assembly and the aiming of the headlamp is manually adjusted by using a drive tool. The adjustor mechanism has a series of indication lines that allow the user to adjust the aiming of the headlamp assembly back to its desired position if the headlamp assembly becomes misaligned.

A plastic dispensing fitment and a plastic screw-on cap are connected in nested relation by an ultrasonic weld. When the cap is initially screwed onto the neck of a jar, the fitment is forced over the neck with a snap fit. When the cap is first unscrewed, the weld breaks to separate the cap from the fitment and enable removal of the cap from the jar while leaving the fitment attached to the jar.

The hinged flap of a plastic container closure is molded while in an open position and, during molding of the flap, an elongated tear-away strip is formed along the front edge of the flap and is integrally connected to the flap by tearable webs. After the newly molded flap has first been closed, the strip is anchored releasably to the top panel of the closure and prevents the flap from opening during shipment of the container, the strip also serving as a visual indicator that the seal of the closure is intact. Anchoring of the strip is effected by pins which project upwardly from the panel and which are ultrasonically welded to the lower side of the strip. The closure is opened by lifting and pulling on the strip to break the welds at the pins and thereby enable the strip to be torn completely away from the top panel and the flap and to free the flap for swinging to an open position. The absence of the strip or the presence of a partially torn strip indicates that tampering has occurred and that the seal may not be intact.

Tamper-evident closure with improved tear strip hold-down

A tube having a tube body made of laminations of plastic and metal foil and formed with an integral frustoconical breast. A plastic fitment with a frustoconical skirt is telescoped with and is bonded to the breast and includes an integral cap which is adapted to be swung between open and closed positions.

A flap is hinged on a container closure to swing between open and closed positions relative to a dispensing opening in the closure. When the flap is closed, upstanding ribs shield the free edge of the flap. A lift tab projects outwardly from the free edge of the flap and extends between the ribs to facilitate swinging of the flap to its open position. The flap is held releasably in its closed position by virtue of the ends of the ribs engaging the side edges of the tab with a snap fit and also by virtue of straight sections of the ribs engaging straight sections on the free edge of the flap with a snap fit at areas located adjacent the tab.

A metal container cover is swingably connected to a metal container body by a hinge which consists of a single-piece extrusion of resiliently yieldable plastic. The hinge is generally S-shaped in transverse cross-section and includes upper and lower hook sections adapted to be snap-assembled with the body and the cover, respectively. A slot in the cover accommodates the lower hook section to enable the cover to swing to an open position.
