An apparatus is provided for monitoring a person. The apparatus is configured for identifying one or more undesirable conditions, by analyzing data from a sensor unit associated with the person's bed, the data being indicative of the person's presence in or absence from the bed. Upon identification of at least one undesirable condition, the apparatus emits a local alarm and transmits an alert signal to a remote apparatus, which is configured for notifying one or more responders about the undesirable condition. If one or more responders responds to the notification, or if the apparatus is reset locally, the local alarm is stopped.

A method for providing improved carrier based data operated squelch (CDOS) includes routines for recovering the carrier signal and for analyzing the received signal. The received signal is sampled at each transition point of the carrier signal as well as the halfway points between the transition points. In addition, extra samples are taken between these samples. Using the samples, a carrier locked loop routine recovers the carrier signal. A CDOS routine analyzes the extra samples to determine the presence of data. If two successive samples are different, this means that a transition has occurred. The CDOS routine analyzes these transitions to determine whether the input signal is encoded with data. If the CDOS routine determines that the input signal is encoded with data, a CDOS counter is incremented. As the input continues to look like data, the value by which the CDOS counter is incremented is increased. When the CDOS counter reaches a certain threshold, the CDOS mutes the output circuit.

Carrier based data operated squelch

Disclosed is a system for decomposing an original signal of arbitrary frequency content into a user determined plurality of signals, each of which signals is centered about a variable center frequency. The system of the present invention utilizes a Bank of a plurality of combination Phase Lock Loop and associated Band Pass Filter Bank Components, the Center Frequency of a Frequency Pass Band of each of said Band Pass Filters being effected by use of a signal input thereto, and output by, an associated Phase Lock Loop. The present invention system is particularly well suited for application in the compensation of vibrations in a physical system as sensed by sensors located therein to sense feed-forward and/or feed-back vibration signals. The use of 'Look-up' tables which provide magnitude and phase modification specifications for use in modifying vibration compensating actuator applied signal frequency and phase in feed-forward and in feed-back vibration compensation systems is disclosed as is the use of both feed-forward and feed-back signals in an automated vibration compensation system.
