A light fixture may include a light fixture housing defining an internal cavity. A light fixture may also include one or more light engines positioned within the internal cavity of the light fixture housing and designed to emit light for illumination. A light fixture may also include an external power driver positioned within the internal cavity of the light fixture housing and designed to receive power from an external power source, and provide power to and control the one or more light engines. A light fixture may also include a backup power supply positioned within the internal cavity of the light fixture housing, and a backup power driver positioned within the internal cavity of the light fixture housing and designed to receive power from the backup power supply, and provide power to and control the one or more light engines.

Downlight reflector

A luminaire includes a housing, a downlight that includes one or more first light sources configured to emit a first light downwardly from the housing, a waveguide, and one or more second light sources. The waveguide is formed of a portion of an optical material and characterized by opposing planar faces joined by one or more edge faces about a periphery of the optical material. The waveguide forms at least a portion of an uppermost optical surface of the luminaire. The one or more second light sources are coupled with the housing and configured to emit a second light into the optical material through at least one of the one or more edge faces. The waveguide is configured to emit at least a portion of the second light upwardly from an upper one of the planar faces.

Direct/indirect luminaire systems and methods

A wall-mounted lighting fixture includes a mounting plate, a canopy and an aiming assembly. The canopy is secured to a mounting plate mounted to a wall. The aiming assembly includes a disk, a tilting assembly, and a light emitting assembly. The canopy defines a circular recess which the disk is positioned flush within. The tilting assembly is coupled to the disk and the light emitting assembly, and includes a pivot joint, for example a hinge, allowing the light emitting assembly to tilt relative to the disk. The disk is rotatably coupled to the canopy allowing the light emitting assembly to rotate relative to the canopy, and therefore the wall. The tilting and rotation allow emitted light from the light emitting assembly to be aimed in two degrees of freedom.

A light fixture includes a flexible shroud, an outer housing, and a light source within a light engine. The light engine couples within the outer housing so as to define a gap between the light engine and an inner perimeter of the outer housing. The flexible shroud forms at least first and second edge portions. The light engine couples with the first edge portion, and the inner perimeter of the outer housing couples with the second edge portion, so that the flexible shroud covers at least part of the gap. A shroud for a light fixture may include a flexible shroud that defines one or more edges. The shroud may include one or more coupling features along the one or more edges. The flexible shroud may form a thickness variation at the coupling feature, to engage a corresponding coupling feature of a light fixture.

A retainer ring for a light fixture includes a cylindrical main body section that defines a cylindrical axis, and an inner retaining flange that extends radially inward from a distal end of the main body section. The inner retaining flange extends substantially about a circumference of the distal end. One or more coupling features extend radially inward from the retainer ring. A customization kit for a light engine that defines an optical axis includes a retainer ring configured to couple with the light engine, and two or more primary optics that are mechanically compatible with the light engine, and retainable to the light engine with the retainer ring. When the retainer ring couples with the light engine, a cylindrical axis of the retainer ring coincides with the optical axis.

A light fixture includes a housing having sidewalls that define a manifold aperture, extending from upper to lower edges of the manifold aperture. The housing includes first coupling features. The light fixture includes at least one adapter plate with second coupling features that removably couple with the first coupling features. The adapter plate defines an adapter plate aperture. At least one light emitting engine removably couples with the adapter plate such that emitted light passes through the adapter plate aperture. The light fixture further includes a baffle that includes at least one baffle cell. The baffle cell includes an upper baffle edge that defines: an upper baffle aperture through which light emitted by the light engine passes, a lower baffle edge that defines an output aperture for the emitted light, and a baffle cell wall that extends from the upper baffle edge to the lower baffle edge.

A baffle for use in a light fixture that includes one or more light emitter positions includes one or more upper edges, each of the upper edges encircling a light emitting aperture and lying within an upper region. The baffle also includes one or more lower edges that correspond in number with the one or more upper edges, each lower edge lying within a lower region, and encircling an output aperture. Plan view shapes of the upper and lower edges form closed shapes that are devoid of angles. The baffle further includes an interior baffle surface that extends downwardly from each of the upper edges to corresponding ones of the lower edges. The interior baffle surface is continuously and downwardly concave from each of the upper edges to each of the lower edges, and is devoid of angles.

Baffle and associated methods for quiet-ceiling light fixtures

A dual output downlight luminaire includes a housing that forms at least a first cavity. A partition extends from a portion of the housing and at least partially forms a boundary between the first cavity and an annular second cavity. A first light source emits a first light that is centered about an optical axis and propagates toward a first output aperture. An optic redirects the first light to form a first light beam that exits the luminaire through the first output aperture. A concentrated portion of the first light beam subtends an angle of 60 degrees or less and is centered about the optical axis. A plurality of second light sources, within the second cavity, emit a second light that exits the luminaire through an annular second output aperture. The first and second light sources are independently controllable with respect to each other.

Disclosed is a light assembly including a rotation ring including upper and lower surfaces, a mounting ring secured to a light pan and including upper and lower surfaces positioned over a portion of the rotation ring such that the portion of the rotation ring is sandwiched between the light pan and the mounting ring and such that the rotation ring is rotatable relative to the mounting ring, a light engine mounted on the rotation ring, and an adjustable rotation limiting mechanism that includes (a) a rotation stop platform provided on the mounting ring, the rotation stop platform including a moveable stop and (b) a rotation stop unit provided on the rotation ring, the rotation stop unit including a rotation stop arm. The rotation stop arm rotates with the rotation ring and contacts the moveable stop to prevent further rotation of the rotation ring with respect to the mounting ring.
