An example medical system for ablating and occluding the left atrial appendage is disclosed. The example system includes a catheter sized and shaped for vascular access and including an elongate body extending between a proximal end and a distal end. A first expandable member may be positioned near the distal end of the elongate body and have a first region configured to permeate a liquid therethrough. A first set of one or more electrodes may be arranged within the first expandable member and may be configured to deliver energy to the tissue region. An occlusive implant may be releasably secured to the distal end of the elongate body.

Tissue puncture devices, and systems and methods for accessing tissue (e.g., cardiovascular tissue) according to the present disclosure may include a tubular sheath extending along a longitudinal axis, the tubular sheath having a proximal end and a distal end, a needle disposed coaxially in the sheath, the needle having a proximal end and a distal end and being movable along the longitudinal axis of sheath, and a needle control mechanism disposed at the proximal end of the needle, the needle control mechanism being configured to lock the distal end of the needle in a first position retracted within the distal end of the sheath, and release the needle to an unlocked second position such that the distal end of the needle is extendable beyond the distal end of the sheath.

Puncture devices, and systems and methods for accessing tissue

In various aspects, the present disclosure provides methods for applying ablation therapy to a target tissue region within a patient, which methods include: (a) navigating a catheter to a target tissue region within the patient, the catheter including an elongate body having a proximal portion and a distal portion and a balloon structure positioned at the distal portion of the elongate body, which balloon structure may be permeable to a calcium-ion-containing solution that comprises one or more calcium salts; (b) positioning the balloon structure at the target tissue region; (c) delivering energy to the target tissue region; and (d) eluting the calcium-ion-containing solution from the balloon structure before, during, and/or after delivering the energy to the target tissue region. In various other aspects, the present disclosure provides apparatuses that can be used for performing such methods, among others.

The present disclosure relates generally to electroporation systems and utilizing algorithms for electroporation pulse delivery including a patient's EKG/EGM monitoring. In some embodiments, an electroporation delivery system may include an electrocardiogram operatively connected to a processing device and a memory. One or more sensors may be operatively connected to the electrocardiogram for measuring electrical activity QRS complex of a patient's heart. One or more electrodes for treatment may be disposed in, at, or near the patient's heart, the one or more electrodes operatively connected to a pulse delivery mechanism. The electroporation delivery system may be configured to determine whether an electroporation pulse is deliverable to a patient based on the electrocardiogram.

A functional gadolinium contrast agent comprising a gadolinium cation and a ligand secured to the gadolinium cation is disclosed, the ligand comprising a reactive group capable of bonding to a capture substrate. A method of removing gadolinium contrast agents from a patient is disclosed, the method comprising providing a gadolinium contrast agent containing a reactive group; providing a capture substrate for insertion into a patient's bloodstream; administering the gadolinium contrast agent to the patient; conducting a magnetic resonance imaging procedure; and sequestering the gadolinium contrast agent on the capture substrate. An imaging contrast composition comprising an iodinated contrast agent and a ligand secured to the iodinated contrast agent is disclosed, the ligand comprising a reactive group capable of bonding to a capture substrate. A method of removing iodinated radiocontrast agents from a patient is disclosed, the method comprising providing an iodinated radiocontrast agent containing a reactive group; providing a capture substrate for insertion into a patient's bloodstream; administering the iodinated radiocontrast agent to the patient; conducting procedure CT scan or procedure using fluoroscopy; and sequestering the iodinated radiocontrast agent on the capture substrate.

An ultrasound catheter may be adapted for placement within a blood vessel having a vessel wall for treating a vascular lesion within or adjacent the vessel wall. The ultrasound catheter includes an elongate shaft extending from a distal region to a proximal region and an ultrasound transducer that is disposed relative to the distal region of the elongate shaft and is adapted to impart near-field acoustic pressure waves upon the vascular lesion in order to mechanically modify the vascular lesion. An inflatable balloon is disposed about the ultrasound transducer and is coupled to the elongate shaft, the inflatable balloon having a collapsed configuration suitable for advancing the ultrasound catheter through a patient's vasculature and an expanded configuration suitable for anchoring the ultrasound catheter in position relative to a treatment site.

The present disclosure relates to the field of embolic coils. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to systems and methods for actively releasing an embolic coil from a delivery device into a body lumen of a patient. Delivery systems of the present disclosure may allow an embolic coil to be advanced external to the distal end of a delivery catheter without being automatically released, thereby allowing the embolic coil to be repositioned prior to deployment.
