Kits and methods and apparatus are provided for retrofitting a lamp for use with a modular lamp controller. In a representative embodiment, a kit includes a port connector, a first portion of a port adapter, a second portion of a port adapter, and a lock nut. The port connector is configured to accept a plug of the modular lamp controller. The first portion of a port adapter has a threaded section. The second portion of the port adapter has a threaded section. The first and second portions are configured to be placed in opposing relation about the port connector to securely surround the port connector while fitting into an opening within a fixture of the lamp. The lock nut screws onto the threaded sections of the first and second portions of the port adapter while placed in opposing relation surrounding the port connector to secure the port adapter and port connector within the opening.

Retrofit kit for modular lamp controller

Methods, apparatus, and systems are provided concerning modular lamp controllers. In one embodiment, a modular lamp controller dims a high intensity discharge lamp based upon occupancy. The lamp has a port within its fixture, and the port is coupled to a lamp capacitor. The modular lamp controller includes a housing, a plug, a capacitor, a switch, an occupancy sensor, a switch controller, a power supply, an interchangeable lens assembly, and a mounting adapter assembly. The plug is adapted to connect to the port. The capacitor couples in series with the lamp capacitor when the plug is attached to the port. The switch defines a full and reduced power state of the lamp. The occupancy sensor generates a signal indicating the presence of an occupant within a monitored space. The switch controller operates the switch to activate the full or reduced power state of the lamp based upon the occupancy signal. The power supply operates using current from the lamp when the plug is attached to the port. The interchangeable lens assembly acts as optics for the occupancy sensor, and the mounting adapter assembly mounts and locks the modular lamp controller into position.

A multiple dimension vector-based occupancy sensor. One or more sensors (for example, ultrasonic and/or infrared sensors) are used to produce one or more occupancy estimator vectors. The individual dimensions of the one or more occupancy estimator vectors are combined using a fusion based detection algorithm to produce a combined estimator signal. The combined estimator is then used to switch electrical loads when the combined estimator signal is above a predetermined threshold. The result is an occupancy sensor that has a very high probability of occupancy detection and a low probability of false tripping.

Methods and apparatus are provided for mounting and aligning a modular lamp controller. A representative embodiment includes a mounting adapter assembly and a laser alignment tool. The mounting adapter assembly is configured to couple to a housing of the modular lamp controller and includes a jam nut and a mounting adapter. The mounting adapter includes internal threads for connecting to a mounting pipe, external threads for locating the jam nut, and a step configured to revolve around an axis of the mounting adapter. The step is configured to rotatably lock the housing. The laser alignment tool is configured to couple to the housing and includes a bracket configured to couple to the housing and a laser coupled to the bracket.

A multiple sensing technology-based occupancy sensor. Ultrasonic and infrared sensors are used to produce first and second occupancy estimator signals that are combined using a fusion based detection algorithm to produce a combined estimator signal. The combined estimator is then used to switch electrical loads when the combined estimator signal is above a predetermined threshold. The result is an occupancy sensor that has a very high probability of occupancy detection and a low probability of false tripping.

Occupancy sensor

An occupancy sensor that provides improved performance by the inclusion of a microprocessor that controls the sensing transducers and processes the received signal to optimize desired detection performance. The occupancy sensor includes a quadrature detection technique and automatic sensitivity adjustment that reduce false detection caused by air flow, hallway traffic and other noise sources. A fault detection method executed periodically detects fault conditions in the sensor or sensing area caused by component failure or obstructions in front of the sensor. Transmitter power is varied depending on the size of the desired coverage area. Since various ambient parameters such as line voltage, light level, and temperature may be easily and usefully monitored, the microprocessor may use these variables to make intelligent decisions in controlling electrical loads, such as building lighting and ventilation.

A display system for use in monitoring ion beam characteristics of an ion beam implantation system. The display includes a cathode ray tube having vertical and horizontal deflection controls. The vertical deflection control is modulated by an indication of ion beam current impinging upon a target wafer. The horizontal deflection control is modulated with a signal related to beam scanning by a deflection electrode. The resultant image provides a system operator with a visual indication of the ion beam.

Ion beam implantation display method and apparatus

A DC power supply provides plural output voltages with respect to a common reference potential by splitting a DC input voltage potential. The input voltage is equally split into dual voltages by the embodiment described. A buffer circuit is provided between a voltage divider network and an output circuit stage coupled to the load. The buffer circuit operates to maintain a reference voltage node in the output stage at a potential substantially equal to the potential at the common node of the voltage divider network. The split voltages appear as independent power supplies to the load coupled to the power supply.
