The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for estimating rotational velocity and/or torque of a drill bit during certain drilling operations using torque and rotational velocity measured at a top drive system of the drilling operations. In certain embodiments, a drilling control system may estimate the rotational velocity and/or the torque of the drill bit using torque and rotational velocity detected at the top drive system, in conjunction with the governing equations of the drill string, the top drive, and the bottom hole assembly (including the drill bit itself), which may be transferred into the Laplace domain. In other embodiments, the drilling control system may estimate the rotational velocity and/or the torque of the drill bit using the torque and rotational velocity detected at the top drive system, in conjunction with a finite dimensional model approximation of the drill string based on an assumed mode shape of the drill string or a finite element model of the drill string.

Systems and methods for estimating drill bit rotational velocity using top drive torque and rotational velocity

The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for rotating a drill string to mitigate stick-slip oscillations. An embodiment includes a method of rotating a drill string driven by a drive system using a control system. The method includes measuring torque values of the drive system with a torque sensor. The method also includes determining a frequency of stick-slip oscillations at the drive system based on the torque values using the control system. The method also includes determining an estimated instantaneous rotational speed of the drive system with the control system based on at least the frequency of stick-slip oscillations and a characteristic impedance of the drill string. The method also includes adjusting the estimated instantaneous rotational speed based on changes in the torque values to define an adjusted estimated instantaneous rotation speed with the control system. The method also includes providing an output signal representing the adjusted estimated instantaneous rotational speed to the drive system. The method also includes controlling rotation of a quill of the drive system based on the output signal.

A drilling rig includes a torque track system configured to couple to a derrick and to a top drive of the drilling rig, where the torque track system is configured to resist movement of the top drive in a lateral direction with respect to the derrick and to transfer torsional loads to the derrick in an operating configuration, a first torque track segment of the torque track system, and a second torque track segment of the torque track system coupled to the first torque track segment with a joint. The joint is configured to enable the first torque track segment and the second torque track segment to pivot with respect to one another while maintaining a physical connection between the first torque track segment and the second torque track segment during manipulation of the torque track system into and out of the operating configuration.

An automated food processing system and method are provided that allow food to be dispensed, fried and packaged in a suitable container, which may be an individual portion-sized container. In one embodiment, the system includes separate automated modules for dispensing, frying and packaging the food. In one embodiment, an automated dispensing device dispenses a predetermined portion of food from a bulk storage container or food dispensing magazine to an automated fry device that can include at least one circular fry wheel having a plurality of food containing compartments. After the food is fried it is dispensed from the fry device to an automated packaging device. The automated packaging device dispenses food to a container that may be an individual portion-sized container that is retrieved, erected and held into position for filling by an automated container handling system. A conveyor system transports the filled container to a suitable pick-up location.

Automated food processing system and method

An automated food processing system and method is provided that allows food to be dispensed, fried and packaged in a suitable container, which may be an individual portion-sized container. In one embodiment, the system includes separate automated modules for dispensing, frying and packaging the food. In one embodiment, an automated dispensing device dispenses a predetermined portion of food from a food dispensing magazine located in a freezer. Food is dispensed from the magazine to a secondary container located within the freezer for containing a plurality of pieces dispensed from the food magazine. A device is provided for determining the number of food pieces in the container located in the secondary container and for dumping the secondary container so that food pieces contained in the secondary container are dumped to a location outside of the freezer.

A bag presenter for moving a bag from a bag supply toward a packaging machine filling station, the bag presenter comprising: a bag supply holding area, a gripper for holding a bag in the filling station and a bag handler for moving the bag from the holding area toward the gripper, the bag handler including a bag feeder and a bag conveyor, the bag feeder being operable to pull a bag from a bottom of the bag supply holding area and to pass the bag to the bag conveyor. The bag handler can include a bag opening mechanism and a means for maintaining the bag in an open configuration, once the bag has been opened. The bag presenter is useful for handling non-wicketed bags and can be used to convert a packaging machine from reliance on wicketed bags to use of non-wicketed bags.

Automated apparatus for filling of a bag with a loose commodity comprises a bag filling station for dispensing commodity into a bag; a wicket for feeding a stacked and interconnected array of empty bags; and a conveyor for removing filled bags from the filling station. Reciprocating clamps grip the open mouths of the filled bags, and transfer the filled bags away from the filling station, with a subsequent bag being drawn into appropriate position for filling by means of the connection formed between the contacting bags.

Bag filling apparatus and method

There is provided a new and useful apparatus for applying a removable protective cover to an optical disc in which the optical disc has a circular configuration, an aperture centered therein and an outer edge. The cover comprises at least one sheet of film of generally circular configuration which corresponds to the circular configuration of the disc. The cover is constructed of a material that will not adversely interfere with the read process of the disc when the cover is in place about the disc. The cover further comprises a plurality of resilient clasps spaced about a circumferential edge of the film to engage the disc about its outer edge in a snap-on spring-like fit. The apparatus has a base to hold the cover with the clasps in a closed position oriented upwardly away from the base, a moveable expanding means to urge the clasps from the closed position to an open, disc-receiving position, centering means to orient and hold the disc concentric with the cover and a top having an inside face and an outside face. The top comprises press means to exert a force on the disc in the direction of the cover, whereby the force urges the edge of the disc to co-operate with the expanding means to expand the clasps into the open disc-receiving position while urging the disc in position within the cover whereby the clasps return to the closed position thereby engaging the edge of the disc in the snap-on spring-like fit.

Applicator for protective cover for an optical disc

There is provided a new and useful protective cover for an optical disc of circular configuration having a circular aperture centered therein and having an outer edge. The protective cover is a sheet of film of generally circular configuration corresponding to the configuration of the disc, wherein the film is of a material that will not interfere with the read process of the disc when the cover is in place about the disc. The protective cover has a plurality of clasps spaced about a circumferential edge of the film to engage the disc about its outer edge in a snap fit. The invention also relates to a method of applying such a protective cover to such an optical disc comprising the steps of holding the cover with the clasps in a closed position oriented relative to the film toward said disc, expanding the clasps to an open position wider than an outside diameter of the disc, placing the disc within the expanded clasps, concentric with the cover and returning the clasps to the closed position whereby they engage the disc about the outer edge in a snap fit.
