In general, in one aspect, embodiments relate to a drill bit, that includes a bit body, a plurality of cutters secured to the bit body, an axial reciprocating assembly, a lateral reciprocating assembly, and a sliding interface that includes a first contact surface and a second contact surface in direct sliding engagement with the first contact surface inside the bit body, such that an exposure of the first borehole engagement member varies with an exposure of the second borehole engagement member.

Depth of cut control responsive to borehole trajectory

A drill bit is provided. The drill bit includes a bit body and an axle disposed in the bit body. The axle includes a first axle portion extending in a longitudinal direction and a second axle portion extending in the longitudinal direction. A longitudinal end of the first axle portion is continuous with a longitudinal end of the second axle portion. When viewed from the longitudinal direction, the first axle portion and the second axle portion are not coaxial, and an outer perimeter of the first axle portion is located entirely within an outer perimeter of the second axle portion. The drill bit also includes a first cutter disposed on the first axle portion and a second cutter disposed on the second axle portion.

A subsea well equipment landing body () includes an indicator assembly to indicate landing of the landing body or to indicate locking of the landing body. The indicator assembly has a stem bore (), a sliding stem () within the stem bore that has a stem head () protruding beyond an external face of the landing body. A stem channel () in the sliding stem extends between the stem head and a stem channel mouth (), and is in fluid communication with the outside of the landing body. A hydraulic channel () in the landing body is in fluid communication with the stem bore. The stem channel mouth is positionable in a communicating position, in which there is fluid communication between the hydraulic channel and the stem channel, and a non-communicating position, without fluid communication between the hydraulic channel and the stem channel.

A seal assembly includes a seal groove defined at least partially between a first member and a second member rotatable relative to the first member, an annular sealing element positioned in the seal groove and providing a mud surface, a lubricant surface axially opposite the mud surface, an inner radial surface, and an outer radial surface radially opposite the inner radial surface. One of the inner and outer radial surfaces is a dynamic surface that seals against the first member when the sealing element rotates with the second member, or seals against the second member when the second member rotates relative to the sealing element. A lubricant channel is defined through the sealing element and extending between the lubricant surface and the dynamic surface to provide a lubricant to the dynamic surface.

A method includes positioning at least one guide projection on a substrate of a metal part such that the at least one guide projection extends outwardly from an outer surface of the substrate to an exposed length. Hardfacing is then applied to the substrate of the metal part at or near a location of the at least one guide projection. The exposed length of the at least one guide projection is then referenced in determining when to cease application of the hardfacing.

Disclosed is a rolling cone drill bit with inner row cutting teeth having portions shielded with an erosion-resistant material that differs in material properties from the tooth's core portion that is more impact resistant. The tooth includes shielding on at least a portion of the upstream end and along portions of the flanking surfaces. It includes shield-free portions on the flanks between the root and the tooth crest. Most of the tooth's perimeter is made of the core material and is free of shielding. Gage row teeth may be angled and form a channel to direct drilling fluid from the gage region of the borehole to locations where the inner row teeth are generating most cuttings. Nozzles are provided with non-uniform orientations.

A PCD cutting element for use in earth boring drill bits where die interstices remote from the working surface are filled with a catalyzing material and the interstices adjacent to the working surface are substantially free of the catalyzing material is described. An intermediate region between the substantially free portion and filled portion has a plurality of generally conically sectioned catalyst-free projections which taper down, extending to a second depth from the planar working surface, preferably about 0.5 times or more of the first depth.
