A seat suspension includes a lower support frame having a first slot, an upper support frame having a second slot, and a biasing member between the upper and lower support frames. A first suspension arm is connected to the lower support frame at a first end for rotation with respect to the lower support frame and connected to the upper support frame at a second end for rotation with respect to the upper support frame. A second suspension arm is connected to the first slot in the lower support frame for rotation with respect to the lower support frame and for translation with respect to the lower support frame along the first slot, and a second end coupled to the second slot in the upper support frame for rotation with respect to the upper support frame and for translation with respect to the upper support frame along the second slot.

Suspension configuration for a seat

A seat includes a base portion and an upright portion pivotable with respect to the base portion. The seat includes a reclining mechanism that includes first and second toothed members that are selectively engaged and disengaged to resist and permit, respectively, the angle of the upright portion with respect to the base portion. The first and second toothed members are engaged and disengaged through rotation of a cam mechanism. The seat also includes a bottom seat cushion height adjustment mechanism that permits raising and lowering of the bottom seat cushion with respect to a base portion of the frame. The bottom seat cushion height adjustment mechanism includes a slidable member that is slidable with respect to the base frame, and a plurality of cams that convert linear motion of the slidable member into vertical movement of the bottom seat cushion. A single biasing member biases the upright portion and bottom seat cushion toward their respective default positions in the absence of an overwhelming opposing force from an operator seated in the seat. The seat includes a seat belt assembly having all points mounted to the frame of the seat frame, and not to the vehicle in which the seat is installed. The biasing member is not a structural element of the seat, and all stress transferred to the seat through the seat belt assembly is borne by the seat frame and the first and second toothed members of the reclining mechanism.

A suspension system for an 'All Belts To Seat' or 'ABTS' style seat is provided that includes a floor bracket, seat bracket, and an equalizing bracket. Means for allowing motion between the seat bracket and floor bracket is provided by a set of cams. The equalizing bracket connects the cams and ensures synchronized rotation. The height of the seat bracket is adjustable with respect to the floor bracket by means of an air spring, and motion between the two brackets is dampened by an interconnected shock absorber.

The suspension system includes a first frame member, a second frame member connectable to the seat and movably coupled to the first frame member, a suspension member coupled to both the first frame member and the second frame member and suspending the second frame member above the first frame member, an adjustment mechanism coupled to the suspension member and manually manipulatable by an operator to adjust the stiffness of the suspension, a handle movable along a portion of the adjustment mechanism and facilitating manual manipulation of the adjustment mechanism, and an engaging member resiliently resisting movement of the handle under its own weight along the portion of the adjustment mechanism.

A vehicle seat for supporting a person wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus, the self-contained breathing apparatus including a tank, the seat including: a frame including a pair of vertical frame members, the vertical frame members being spaced apart to permit the tank to be passed therebetween; and a bracket assembly extending between the vertical frame members for releasably supporting the tank, the bracket assembly including a pair of side bars extending rearwardly from respective of the vertical frame members, the bracket assembly including a depth adjustment bar releasably mounted between the side bars, and the bracket assembly including a tank clip supported by the depth adjustment bar for receiving the tank.
