Couplings and gaskets are disclosed. Couplings may include an upper housing, a lower housing, at least one fastening device coupling the upper housing to the lower housing, and a gasket positioned within the upper and lower housings, the gasket including two primary seals and a rib protruding from an inner surface of the gasket and between the two primary seals.

Methods, gaskets, and couplings for connecting two pipes are disclosed. One embodiment of the method includes the steps of placing the assembled coupling over one end of a pipe, aligning the second pipe with the first pipe, sliding the coupling off the end of the first pipe so that a portion of the coupling is around each pipe, and securing the coupling.

A roller tool for forming an outwardly projecting ridge in a pipe, which tool is usable with the chuck or power head of a conventional pipe working machine, and a carriage suitable for mounting the roller tool and other tools on the pipe working machine. The roller tool has a female roller rotatably supported on a movable frame. The frame is fixed to the carriage, which in turn is pivotally mountable on the carriage supporting rails of the pipe working machine. One rail is fully encircled by a closed socket formed in the carriage, so that the roller tool cannot spontaneously disengage from the host pipe working machine. The other rail is partially encircled by an open socket formed in the carriage. The roller tool can pivot about the closed socket between an operational position and a standby position enabling the grooving machine to be utilized for grooving with the roller tool still attached. The roller tool has plural female rollers configured differently to provide ability to form the ridge at different distances from the end of the pipe being worked. In an alternative embodiment, conventional pipe working tools are used with the novel carriage.

Ridge rolling tool for pipes

A threadless coupler for connecting two large pipes in line and a third, relatively small pipe to form a Tee. The coupler has a clamp for engaging a male groove formed in each large pipe, the small pipe being connected by threading. The clamp comprises a collar surrounding the retained pipe. The clamp connects to the coupler by threaded fasteners. The coupler has two internal elastic seals which close over their respective large pipes. The clamp may be an annular collar which must be slipped over a pipe prior to forming the male groove, or two complementing sections which may be placed over the pipe after forming the groove. The coupler and pipes are all fabricated from non-malleable materials.
