A refrigerant vapor compression system comprising a plurality of components connected in a refrigerant flow circuit by a plurality of refrigerant lines, said components including: a compression device; a refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger; a first expansion device; a refrigerant heat absorption heat exchanger; and a flash tank system having a first flash tank operably coupled to a second flash tank by a first connection, the flash tank system being disposed in the refrigerant flow circuit between the refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger and the refrigerant heat absorption heat exchanger.

Refrigerant vapor compression system with multiple flash tanks

A transportation container includes a storage volume. A refrigeration system is contained within the storage volume. The refrigeration system includes a fan configured to ingest exterior air, a condenser coil immediately downstream of the fan, and a vent configured exhaust spent cooling air from the storage volume. A controller is configured to control the refrigeration system. the controller includes instructions configured to cause the refrigeration system to detect an indication of operational deterioration of a transportation container refrigeration system, reverse a rotational direction of an airflow fan such that air is drawn over a refrigeration coil and expelled from the transportation container using the airflow fan, and revert the rotational direction of the airflow fan at a conclusion of a cleaning operation.

System and method for automatically cleaning refrigeration coils

A coupler for connecting to a port, and a method for connecting a coupler to a port are provided. The coupler includes a body, a plunger needle, and a threaded portion. The body includes a radially outward facing surface, a radially inward facing surface, a proximal end, and a distal end. The plunger needle is fixed to the body, and extends in parallel with the body toward the distal end of the body. The threaded portion extends circumferentially around at least a portion of the radially outward facing surface of the body toward the distal end of the body, the threaded portion configured to receive a threaded portion of the port.

Charging port coupler

A refrigerant vapor compression system includes a compression device having at least a first compression stage and a second compression stage arranged in series refrigerant flow relationship. A first refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger is disposed downstream with respect to refrigerant flow of the second compression stage. A first refrigerant intercooler is disposed intermediate the first compression stage and the second compression stage. The first refrigerant intercooler is disposed downstream of the first refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger with respect to the flow of the first secondary fluid. An economizer includes a vapor line in fluid communication with a suction inlet to the second compression stage. A second refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger is disposed intermediate with respect to refrigerant flow of the second compression stage and the first refrigerant heat rejection heat exchanger. A second refrigerant intercooler is disposed intermediate the first compression stage and the second compression.

A method of operating a refrigeration system is provided. The method includes activating an evaporator heater, monitoring a pressure differential within the refrigeration system, when the pressure differential reaches a predetermined value, deactivating the evaporator heater, and activating one or more evaporator fans, after deactivating the evaporator heater, to cause a thermostatic expansion valve to open.

A method of operating a refrigeration system is provided. The method includes activating an evaporator heater (), monitoring a pressure differential within the refrigeration system (), when the pressure differential reaches a predetermined value (), deactivating the evaporator heater (), and activating one or more evaporator fans (), after deactivating the evaporator heater, to cause a thermostatic expansion valve to open.

A current sensor is installed in a generator set to measure the current being delivered from the generator set to a refrigeration unit. A control is responsive to the current transformer to reduce the speed of the drive engine to a lower speed when the current being delivered to the refrigeration unit is determined to be below a predetermined higher level. Provision is made to override the system when the sensed current is determined to be transient caused or in the event that ambient temperature is determined to be above a predetermined temperature threshold.
