A method of controlling the operation of a dryer including both a variable heat source and a variable speed blower includes varying only one of the variable heat source and the variable speed blower, while maintaining the other one in a fixed state.

Clothes dryer apparatus and method

An electric clothes dryer heater system including a heater element and a controller operationally coupled to the heater is provided. The controller is configured to provide an AC sine wave to a heater element of an electric clothes dryer, stop providing at a zero crossing of the AC sine wave, monitor the AC sine wave for a subsequent zero crossing and reprovide the AC sine wave to the heater element at the subsequent zero crossing.

An over-voltage control device for a clothes dryer including an electrical heater coupled to an alternating current power supply is provided. The device includes a switch device adapted to connect and disconnect the power supply from the heater, and a micro-controller coupled to the switch device. The switch device is responsive to said micro-controller, and the micro-controller is configured to operate said switch to maintain an effective heater voltage below a predetermined threshold to avoid tripping of a circuit breaker.

Clothes dryer over-voltage control apparatus and method

A dryer tumble drying articles includes a drum including a cavity configured to hold articles to be dried, a first motor drivingly coupled to the drum to rotate the drum, a heat source in flow communication with the cavity, and a variable speed motor drivingly coupled to a blower positioned to deliver heated air from the heat source to the cavity.
