An antimicrobial toner particle composition is disclosed. The antimicrobial toner particle composition includes a binder resin, and an antimicrobial material in an effective antimicrobial amount comprising copper oxide. An image forming apparatus is also disclosed, capable of forming a fused antimicrobial image on a recording medium.

Disclosed herein is a release fluid, a fuser member and an image forming apparatus. The release fluid includes an amino functional silicone fluid, a non-functional silicone fluid; and vitamin E.

Release fluid additive

A process including providing a paper substrate; disposing a water soluble precoat composition onto all or a portion of the paper substrate to provide a treated paper; applying an image onto the treated paper using a toner or an aqueous ink to provide an imaged paper; wherein the water soluble precoat composition forms a temporary barrier between the toner or aqueous ink and the paper substrate; and wherein, during a paper pulping process, the water soluble precoat composition dissolves thereby releasing the toner or aqueous ink from the paper substrate.

A transfer member for a printing device includes a shaft, a rigid cylindrical core member, mounted on the shaft, an outer layer supported on the rigid cylindrical core member, and optionally a conformable intermediate layer, spacing the cylindrical core member from the outer layer. The outer layer defines an outer surface of the transfer member, and is configured for receiving a toner image thereon. The cylindrical core and outer layer have a same axis of rotation as the shaft. The rigid cylindrical core and/or the conformable intermediate layer, where present may be electrically biased, relative to a photoconductor drum of the printing device.

A printable antimicrobial medium is disclosed, including a substrate layer having a first surface which may include a first area, a second surface opposite the first surface which may include a second area. The printable antimicrobial medium also includes a first adhesive deposited on the first area, a liner layer releasably secured to the substrate layer by the first adhesive, and a first antimicrobial dry marking material deposited on at least a portion of the second area of the substrate layer. The printable antimicrobial medium may include a first score line arranged to separate one or more layers of the printable antimicrobial medium into a first portion and a second portion, and an antimicrobial dry marking material may include copper oxide deposited on at least a portion of the second area of the substrate layer.

A development system includes a housing configured for accommodating a developer material which includes toner particles. At least one magnetic roller is positioned within the housing to attract the developer material to a surface of the magnetic roller(s). A continuous developer belt is positioned to attract the toner particles from the at least one magnetic roller to a surface of the developer belt. The developer belt is carried on a plurality of developer rollers. One of the developer rollers is positioned adjacent to an image transfer member, such as a belt or drum, with a photoconductive surface. Some of the toner particles are transferred to a latent image formed on the image transfer member to generate a toner image layer, which is applied to a sheet of print medium.

Inkjet printhead cleaning methods and systems control an articulation structure (that is connected to a wiper blade) to move the wiper blade to contact an inkjet printhead to wipe the inkjet printhead. These methods/systems further control the articulation structure to move the wiper blade to contact a blade cleaning structure to clean the wiper blade. The blade cleaning structure comprises a fluid manifold and bundles of fibers mounted in brush openings of the fluid manifold, and cleaning fluid is in the fluid manifold. The mounting ends of the bundles of fibers are mounted in the brush openings of the fluid manifold and the cleaning ends of the bundles of fibers are positioned to contact the wiper blade. The blade cleaning structure is positioned so as to gravity feed the cleaning fluid from the mounting ends of the fibers to the cleaning ends of the fibers.

A capping station is configured for storing a printhead during printer inactivity to restore and preserve the operational status of the nozzles in the printhead. Each capping station has a receptacle having at least one wall and a floor configured to enclose a volume partially, and a sealing member mounted to an upper surface of the at least one wall of the receptacle so the sealing member extends away from the upper surface of the at least one wall. The sealing member has a surface that slopes toward the volume within the receptacle to direct fluid on the sloping surface of the sealing member into the volume within the receptacle.

Exemplary printing apparatuses include, among other components, a printhead structure that includes nozzles adapted to eject liquid ink, a carriage assembly having positioning structures, and one or more printhead caps or cups within the carriage assembly. The carriage assembly is shaped to latch to the printhead structure. The printhead includes corresponding structures and the positioning structures engage with the corresponding structures when the carriage assembly is latched to the printhead structure. Also, the printhead caps are positioned within the carriage assembly so as to cover the nozzles when the carriage assembly is connected to the printhead structure.

A development device includes components such as a housing, a magnetic roll in the housing that moves marking material in the housing, a donor roll in the housing that is positioned to receive the marking material from the magnetic roll, a manifold in the housing, etc. The manifold has a manifold opening positioned to create airflow from the surface of the donor roll. Further, such structures include a seal over the manifold opening. The seal is a component that has a planar linear surface with seal openings that are aligned with the manifold opening. The edge of the housing adjacent the manifold opening is a first distance from the magnetic roll and the edge of the seal is a second, closer distance from the magnetic roll.

A system for focusing light including a gradient index lens array positioned at a first distance from a surface, and first and second positioning elements arranged to modify the first distance. The first and second positioning elements modify the first distance based on an analysis of an image formed on the surface across substantially a full width of a cross process direction of the surface.

Closed loop focusing system

A melting device melts solid ink into liquid ink by passing alternating current through an electrical conductor arranged in coils around a housing. The liquid ink passes from a reservoir, through a spool valve arrangement, and into first and second chambers. The spool valve arrangement only allows liquid ink into one chamber at a time. While the first chamber is being filled, pressure is applied to the second chamber. The pressure applied to the second chamber forces the liquid ink in the second chamber through a filter and an outlet. When the first chamber is filled to a predetermined level, pressure is no longer applied to the second chamber and is applied to the first chamber. The pressure applied to the first chamber moves the spool valve arrangement to block the first chamber. While pressure is applied to the first chamber, the second chamber is filled with liquid ink.

An apparatus for developing in a development zone a latent image recorded on a surface, including a housing defining a chamber storing at least a supply of toner therein; a donor member disposed at least partially in the chamber of the housing and spaced from the surface, the donor member being adapted to rotate about a longitudinal axis to transport toner to the development zone in a region opposed from the surface; and a wire assembly module mounted in the development zone and extending in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis, the wire assembly module including a wire and a drive/cleaning system for translating and cleaning portions of the wire in the development zone, and a power supply for electrically biasing the wire to form a toner powder cloud in the development zone for developing the latent image.

A device that can sense small changes in distance between opposed surfaces includes a ferromagnetic material and a giant magneto resistance effect sensor. A current source applies a current to the sensor to operate the sensor and read the magnetic field that impinges on the sensor from the ferromagnetic material. The magnetic field changes when the distance between the opposed surfaces changes. The device can be used in imaging apparatus to sense multifeeds and other conditions.
