Methods and systems for a fire pump control system are provided. An example fire pump control system includes a pump system having a given full load current, wherein the pump system comprises (i) a fire pump, (ii) a first disconnect switch and (iii) a first circuit breaker. The first disconnect switch and the first circuit breaker are located upstream of the fire pump. The system further includes a controller configured to control operation of the fire pump, and the controller comprises a second disconnect switch and a second circuit breaker. The controller is located upstream of the first disconnect switch and the first circuit breaker, and is configured to avoid (i) opening within two minutes at 600 percent of the full load current, (ii) opening with a restart transient of 24 times the full load current, and (iii) opening within 10 minutes at 300 percent of the full load current.

Methods and systems for overcurrent protection in a fire pump control system

Controlling the operation of a jockey pump in a fire pump system including a jockey pump controller which includes an electronic circuit board configured to receive a signal indicating a pressure value, and compares the pressure value to a threshold for initiating operation of the jockey pump. The jockey pump controller may further include memory configured to store event statistics indicating information regarding past operation of the jockey pump.

Systems and methods of controlling pressure maintenance pumps and data logging pump operations

An example system in a fire pump room may comprise a monitoring component that is configured to receive data from two or more pump room devices of a fire pump room. The monitoring component may include a plurality of input ports and each of the two or more pump room devices may be communicatively coupled to the monitoring component via a corresponding input port. The system may further comprise a wireless network interface controller communicatively coupled to a server in a network via a wireless access point, and a memory configured to store subscription information for one or more subscribing parties. Additionally, the system may comprise a processing component configured to send an indication of the received data to at least one of the one or more subscribing parties via the wireless network interface controller.

Example devices, systems, and methods disclosed herein relate to controlling operation of a fire pump or jockey pump of a fire pump system. An example fire pump control system may comprise a jockey pump controller configured to control operation of a jockey pump and a fire pump controller configured to control operation of a fire pump. The jockey pump controller may be configured to determine a first pressure value based on an output of a jockey pump pressure sensor. The fire pump controller may be configured to receive the first pressure value from the jockey pump controller. The fire pump controller may also be configured to determine a second pressure value based on an output of a fire pump pressure sensor and select a predetermined action based on a comparison of the first pressure value and the second pressure value. Additional example devices, systems, and methods are described herein.

Dual redundancy in fire pump controllers

Methods and systems for operating a fire pump controller are provided. An example method includes causing a power supply coupled to a an electric motor-driven water pump through a fire pump controller in a fire protection system to provide power to the water pump, and monitoring the performance of the power supply during the motor starting period by measuring the voltage and/or current of its output under motor load conditions. The method may also include providing visual indications, such as traces or starting signatures of motor power supply voltages and/or currents during the motor starting period for the purposes of observation and troubleshooting motor power supply and power train performance problems.
