A method of verifying audio notifications generated within a vehicle includes generating an audio notification using an audio generation path that includes at least a controller, an audio notification generator and a speaker, wherein the controller generates an audio notification request utilized by the audio notification generator to generate an audio signal, and wherein the speaker converts the audio signal into the audio notification. The method further includes monitoring sounds within the vehicle using a microphone separate from the audio generation path and analyzing the monitored sounds using an audio analyzer, wherein the audio analyzer verifies whether the audio notification was generated. Feedback is provided to the audio generation path regarding whether generation of the audio notification was verified.

System and method for verifying audible and/or visual notifications

A vehicle system includes a human machine interface (HMI) and a controller circuit. The HMI accepts inputs from a user. The controller circuit is configured to receive a first input from the user via the HMI, anticipate a potential second input from the user via the HMI, determine potential system failures based on at least one of an operating state of the system and the potential second input, determine, based on historical data, whether an input sequence comprising the first input from the user and the potential second input from the user is likely to impact performance of the system and or one or more components of the system, and if the input sequence is likely to result in the impact to the performance of the system and or the one or more components of the system, enact at least one countermeasure to avoid or reduce the impact.

System and method for veryifying audible and/or visual notifications

A method includes detecting, with a sensor, a gaze of an occupant of a vehicle. The gaze is directed to at least one vehicle displays. The method also includes determining, with a controller circuit in communication with the sensor, whether one or more features presented on the at vehicle displays are partially obstructed from a view of the occupant. When the one or more features presented on vehicle displays are partially obstructed from the view of the occupant, the controller circuit adjusts a presentation of at least one partially obstructed features to be viewable by the occupant.

Display method

A human-machine interface (HMI) system used to indicate a vehicle-feature based on glance-direction of an occupant of the vehicle includes a camera and a controller. The camera is used to capture a sequence-of-images of an occupant of a vehicle. The controller is configured to determine a plurality of glance-directions from the sequence-of-images, define a plurality of glance-zones based on the plurality of glance-directions, one glance-zone for each glance-direction, define an intersection-zone based on an intersection of two or more of the glance-zones, determine an outlier-count based on how many of the plurality of glance-zones do not intersect with the intersection-zone, and select a vehicle-feature in the vehicle indicated by the occupant, said vehicle-feature located at a location inside the vehicle that corresponds to the intersection-zone, said vehicle-feature indicated by the operator when the outlier-count during the pause-interval is less than a paused-threshold.

Automated vehicle human-machine interface system based on glance-direction

An entertainment system suitable for use in a vehicle and configured to control an output volume of the system includes a microphone and a processor. The microphone is configured to detect sound in a cabin of the vehicle, and output a microphone signal indicative of the sound. The processor is configured to determine a difference signal based on a difference between the microphone signal and an output signal corresponding to sound being output by the system, determine if the difference signal corresponds to human speech, and decrease the output volume of the system when the difference signal corresponds to human speech.
