A filter system for receiving an oil-in-water emulsion contaminated with an emulsified contaminant oil, and separating the emulsified contaminant oil from the oil-in-water emulsion includes a filter media for receiving the oil-in-water emulsion and emulsified contaminant oil, having an inner filter element formed from a 95 percent single pass efficiency 48 micron (5 micron nominal) filtering material of needle punch polypropylene felt, an outer filter element formed from a 95 percent single pass efficiency 19 micron absolute filtering material of a polypropylene microfiber material and a porous spunbond polypropylene sandwiching the outer filter media. The filter element de-emulsifies the emulsified contaminant oil from the oil-in-water emulsion into the contaminant oil and the oil-in-water emulsion, separates the de-emulsified contaminant oil from the oil-in-water emulsion, coalesces the separated contaminant oil and passes both the coalesced de-emulsified contaminant oil and the oil-in-water emulsion. A first tank supports the filter element and is further configured to hold a quantity of the separated coalesced contaminant oil and the oil-in-water emulsion. The first tank has an overflow passing to a second tank. The second tank has an oil separation assembly for removing the oil-in-water emulsion from the contaminant oil and passing the oil-in-water emulsion therefrom. A method for separating the emulsified contaminant oil from the oil-in-water emulsion and recovering the oil-in-water emulsion is also disclosed.

Filter system

A filter system for receiving an oil-in-water emulsion contaminated with an emulsified contaminant oil, and separating the emulsified contaminant oil from the oil-in-water emulsion includes a filter media for receiving the oil-in-water emulsion and emulsified contaminant oil, having an inner filter element formed from a 95 percent single pass efficiency 48 micron (5 micron nominal) filtering material of needle punch polypropylene felt, an outer filter element formed from a 95 percent single pass efficiency 19 micron absolute filtering material of a polypropylene microfiber material and a porous spunbond polypropylene sandwiching the outer filter media. The filter clement de-emulsifies the emulsified contaminant oil from the oil-in-water emulsion into the contaminant oil and the oil-in-water emulsion, separates the de-emulsified contaminant oil from the oil-in-water emulsion, coalesces the separated contaminant oil and passes both the coalesced de-emulsified contaminant oil and the oil-in-water emulsion. A first tank supports the filter element and is further configured to hold a quantity of the separated coalesced contaminant oil and the oil-in-water emulsion. The first tank has an overflow passing to a second tank. The second tank has an oil separation assembly for removing the oil-in-water emulsion from the contaminant oil and passing the oil-in-water emulsion therefrom. A method for separating the emulsified contaminant oil from the oil-in-water emulsion and recovering the oil-in-water emulsion is also disclosed.

A spray-entrapped product such as dispensed by an MDI device includes an elongated passageway having a mouthpiece portion and a main chamber portion. The MDI device is mounted to direct a medication spray into the main chamber. A first air inlet allows a low-level inspiratory breath to be developed through the unit prior to operation of the MDI device. When the MDI device is operated a second, air inlet is opened, allowing a higher-level breath to be developed, which causes a high level of mixing with the MDI spray for efficient draws into the lungs. The second air inlet remains open after MDI operation ceases, insuring that a complete, high flow rate breath can be made to fully sweep the medication out of the chamber.

Metered dose inhalation unit with slide means

A liquid filter apparatus particularly useful in removing particulates from parts washing solvent. A filter assembly includes an exterior, fluid, impermeable container, preferably in the form of a flexible sidewall bag, and an interior filter element with permeable sidewalls and inlet and outlet ends, preferably in the form of a sleeve. In use, liquid entering the sleeve may pass unfiltered entirely through the sleeve and exit through a sidewall of the exterior container, or all or any part of such liquid may pass through the filter sleeve and into a portion of the apparatus outside the sleeve but inside the exterior container. From this portion, the liquid emerges in a filtered condition. Consequently, the filter continually operates in both filtration and bypass modes. Preferably the flexible sidewall container is received within a rigid support housing, two filter units are provided, and their inlets and outlets are removably secured to a manifold controlling passage of fluid to be cleaned from a liquid pump assembly and to another part of a parts washer associated with the filter.

Composite liquid filter

A liquid filter apparatus particularly useful in removing particulates from parts washing solvent. A filter assembly includes an exterior, fluid-impermeable container, preferably in the form of a flexible sidewall bag, and an interior filter element with permeable sidewalls and inlet and outlet ends, preferably in the form of a sleeve. In use, liquid entering the sleeve may pass unfiltered entirely through the sleeve and exit through a sidewall of the exterior container, or all or any part of such liquid may pass through the filter sleeve and into a portion of the apparatus outside the sleeve but inside the exterior container. From this portion, the liquid emerges in a filtered condition. Consequently, the filter continually operates in both filtration and bypass modes. Preferably the flexible sidewall container is received within a rigid support housing, two filter units are provided, and their inlets and outlets are removably secured to a manifold controlling passage of fluid to be cleaned from a liquid pump assembly and to another part of a parts washer associated with the filter.

A safety cover assembly for use with an associated storage drum. The assembly includes a drum insert with a collar having a two-part cover assembly disposed atop the collar. The moveable part of the cover assembly is actuated by one portion of a crank mechanism, the other portion of which includes a pair of ends secured to a treadle and riser assembly. In use, pushing down on the treadle lowers the one portion of the crank mechanism, and raising the other portion and the associated cover. The treadle and riser assembly is open at the rear to facilitate removal and replacement of the drum. The moveable cover part may be secured to the crank by a fusible link for fire protection.

Safety cover assembly for open container

An apparatus for removing non-volatile residues and impurities from a used solvent includes a self-scrubbing heating distillation subassembly for separating purified solvent for reuse and a controlled waste collector subassembly for overflowing concentrated residues and impurities stripped from the used solvent into an easy-to-service container. The apparatus may be disposed in a parallel in-line relationship with a circulating solvent flow circuit, such as in a dry cleaning operation, to continuously withdraw and purify aliquot portions of the circulating solvent stream, returning good solvent back to the flow circuit and concentrating non-volatile residues and impurities to a removable, environmentally sound serviceable container. The new and improved self-scrubbing heater assembly causes a rapid turbulent reboiling flow of solvent within a confined column and substantially avoids build up of residues on heat exchange surfaces for prolonged heater life and longer uninterrupted service life before service is needed.

On-site, controlled waste concentrator and solvent regenerator apparatus

A device for blending a medication with an airflow intended for inhalation, such as may be provided by a ventilator circuit is in the form of a tubular body intended to be placed in series with the ventilator line. The body is provided with a reduced-diameter portion which accelerates the airflow therethrough. Medication is ejected into the accelerated airflow in a direction contrary thereto, whereby increased dispersion and blending of the medication into the airflow results. The medication is then carried by the airflow to the patient.

Medication inhaler mixer

A method of handling materials requiring controlled handling and storage using a storage and transport drum assembly. The storage and transport drum includes a removable cover and a liner bag assembly. The liner bag includes bottom, side and top walls and a collar surrounding an opening in the top wall. The collar includes a groove for receiving a retainer ring that fits within a groove in the side all of a drum cover fitting. An exterior plug is provided for the drum cover fitting and an interior plug for the bag collar. The fitting, the collar, and the retainer ring are arranged such that the retainer ring retains the collar against unintentional separation relative to the fitting, but the bag and collar may be intentionally separated by pushing the bag into the drum when desired. The liner bag is assembled with the drum prior to filling. After the contents have been used the initial filler is notified and the bag is recycled.

Detachable cover and drum liner for storage and transport of controlled

A storage and transport drum including a removable cover and a liner bag assembly. The liner bag includes bottom, side, and top walls and a collar surrounding an opening in the top wall. The collar includes a groove for receiving a retainer ring that fits within a groove in the side wall of a drum cover fitting. An exterior plug is provided for the drum cover fitting and an interior plug for the bag collar. The fitting, the collar, and the retainer ring are arranged such that the retainer ring retains the collar against unintentional separation relative to the fitting, but the bag and collar may be intentionally separated by pushing the bag into the drum when desired.

An apparatus for dispensing a measured amount of a spray-entrapped product, typically dispensed by a metered dose inhaler device, includes an elongated passageway having a mouthpiece portion and a main chamber portion. The metered dose inhaler is mounted between the mouthpiece and main chamber portions such that upon operation its spray is directed away from the mouthpiece. A two-position valve is provided to allow a first, low-level flow to be developed through the unit, followed by a higher flow rate as the metered dose inhaler unit is operated. This increased flow, passing through the device in the direction opposite to that of the MDI spray, contacts the spray plume to cause a high level of mixing and a decrease in spray particle size which results in an efficient draw of the spray medication into the lungs of the user.

Inspiratory muscle exerciser or similar article

A pulmonary muscle trainer consisting of a tubular body having a poppet valve dividing the body into two sections. The poppet is adjustably biased into the closed position, whereby inspiration of a given intensity will be sufficient to overcome the bias and allow air flow through the unit. The poppet is supplied with a one-way valve element to permit the user to create an unrestricted expiration air flow to allow a breathing rhythm to be established. In a preferred embodiment bias is maintained on the poppet by a spring whose compression is adjustable by means of a collar manually positionable within the body of the unit. By the use of the poppet a constant threshold pressure load may be applied.

Inspirator muscle trainer

A spray gun cleaning apparatus having a cleaning basin with an open top portion, a cleaning solvent reservoir, means for circulating solvent from the reservoir to the interior of the basin, and a vapor collection system associated with the basin. The vapor collection system includes a vapor collection manifold positionable adjacent to the periphery of the basin, manifold inlet means extending about the periphery of the basin, an exhaust opening in a portion of said manifold, a vacuum source having its inlet end in communication with the manifold exhaust opening and its outlet end in communication with a vapor discharge line. Upon actuation, the vacuum source evacuates vapors from the manifold interior by inducing air and vapor flow from the interior of the basin through the manifold and into the vapor discharge line.
