A system and method for controlling a lighting system may be integrated into a lighting fixture or into a stand-alone device. A plurality of inputs defining one or more lighting parameters may be received. The inputs may include input signals characterized by at least two different control protocols. The input signals may be combined into an output signal characterized by a single control protocol, and the output signal used to control the lighting system.

Lighting control system and method

A lighting system is provided with a device for emitting light in response to receiving electrical current, a microprocessor and a current source. The microprocessor is programmed to provide a color control signal and an intensity control signal that are independently controllable relative to each other. The current source is adapted to provide the electrical current to the device at an amplitude based on the color control signal and at an on-off timing based on the intensity control signal.

A system and method for data conversion includes a transmitter configured to receive high-speed data and convert it into wireless low-speed data for output to a receiver. The transmitter includes a radio device and one or more processors for converting the high-speed data to low-speed data. Once received by the receiver, the low-speed data may be output for use directly by equipment which uses such data, or it may be reconverted to high-speed data and output to equipment that utilizes high-speed data signals.

An apparatus for inverting DC voltage to AC voltage by stacking of DC voltage sources from a series of DC voltage sources comprises a plurality of circuits. Each circuit includes a first power switch, a second power switch, and a third power switch. The first power switch allows selective connection of adjacent DC voltage sources in the series to provide stacking of DC voltage sources. The second power switch allows selective connection of a first bus to a corresponding location between adjacent DC voltage sources. The third power switch allows selective connection of a second bus to a corresponding location between adjacent DC voltage sources. Controlling the plurality of power switches produces an AC voltage output by coordinating stacking of DC voltage sources and associated connections to the first bus and the second bus.

Apparatus for inverting DC voltage to AC voltage

A technique for cooling equipment racks that contain multiple individual devices, such as computers, that each have their own internal cooling fans. An air passage ('shunt tube') is placed between a compartment inside the rack, and the ambient air outside the rack, or between compartments inside the rack. Sensors inside the air passage detect movement of the air inside the passage, and thus indirectly measure the presence of a differential pressure. The preferred sensor embodiment uses temperature sensors, and takes advantage of the differences of the air temperatures inside the computer rack, and outside the computer rack (or between internal computer rack compartments) to determine if the air is moving through the air passage, and which direction the air is moving. In response to the measurements, a control system is configured to drive the plenum to a slight vacuum, and then slowly reduce an exhaust fan until the plenum is slightly pressurized, at which point the fan speeds up and again creates a slight vacuum. This allows the rack enclosure to continuously adapt to any changes in cooling requirements, as the computer utilization changes.

An sealing system includes a frame, a ferrite core disposed within the frame, and a litz wire coil disposed proximate to the ferrite core for producing an electromagnetic field within the ferrite core, where the ferrite core and litz wire coil are adapted to direct the electromagnetic field toward a foil to seal an opening of a container with the foil. The sealing head is air cooled within the induction sealing unit.

An induction heating system having an induction source, a heating element heated from the induction source and a circuit energized by the induction source. The circuit can be a controller which includes a temperature sensor for measuring a temperature of the heating element, and a feedback loop formed between the temperature sensor and the induction source. The heating element can be mounted within a housing to form an induction heated container for holding items to be heated. Such a container can be used in commercial food warming and holding.

A control system for a pneumatic hoist limits the velocity or acceleration of a load attached to the hoist. The control system includes a controller and a valve. The controller provides a variable gain between an actuator, which controls the speed of the hoist, and the valve, which controls fluid flow into the hoist, thereby controlling the velocity or acceleration of the load. As the velocity or the acceleration of the load reaches a predetermined maximum value, the control system proportionally reduces the gain between the actuator and the valve, thereby closing the valve and reducing the velocity or acceleration of the hoist.

An induction sealing conveyor system includes an induction sealing unit coupled to an adjustment mechanism which adjustably positions the induction sealing unit with respect to a conveyor which moves a container to be sealed near a sealing head of the induction sealing unit. The sealing head includes ferrite cores and a litz wire coil formed on the ferrite cores which produces an electromagnetic field for hermetically sealing the container. The sealing head is entirely air cooled within the induction sealing unit.
