A method for making and pony tail holder for securely holding the hair of a user includes a band of elastic material with fabric ring substantially surrounding the band. A portion of the band can be exposed through a pair of apertures in the fabric. The apertures are separated by a bar tack stitch. The exposed band is pulled out of the apertures in the fabric ring to form a loop in the band and concomitantly causes concentric shrinking of the fabric ring central opening. A ponytail or other object can be placed through the loop of the exposed band. The exposed band can then be twisted to form additional loops to pull the ponytail through to tighten the hold on the ponytail. The ponytail can be optionally placed through the central portion of the fabric ring and held securely in place. The fabric ring is not twisted permitting a decorative design to be displayed without obstruction.

A sleeve is held in a gathered postion with an elongated strap having an elastic loop on one end and a fastener on the other end. The fastener is passed through the loop and then folded back against itself to hold the fastener to the loop. The sleeve holder may also have one or two labels to add decorative graphics to the device.

Method and apparatus for holding a sleeve

A plastic injection molded adjustable arm assembly includes a base (102) having a detent wheel (104) that includes a plurality of detents (e.g., 106). An adjustable arm (202) includes a snap-in (204) for rotatably attaching the arm to the base. The arm also includes a locking mechanism (214) that includes a lever (218) that is attached to the arm at a fulcrum (216). A pawl (220) is located at one end of the lever (218a) to engage one of the detents in the detent wheel, thereby locking the arm in one of several angular positions. To release the lock and move the arm to a different position, the user pushes on the end of the lever opposite the pawl (218b), thereby causing the pawl to disengage from the detent. The base and the arm are each injection moldable using a single action mold. In one embodiment, the arm can be moved in one direction by the application of direct pressure to the arm, but it cannot be moved in the opposite direction until the locking lever is manually released. In a second embodiment, the arm cannot be moved in either direction until the locking lever is released manually.

A folding drafting aid apparatus includes a planar member having a first and second planar member ends and a first planar member side and a second planar member side, and being foldable at a hinge structure so that the second planar member side pivots face to face against itself; a flexible, resilient first tab having a free end and retained on a first tab structure; and a flexible, resilient second tab having a tab free end and retained on a second tab structure; where the tabs are positioned relative to each other so that when the planar member is folded at the hinge structure to pivot the second planar member side face to face against itself, one tab overlays the other tab and so that pressing one tab against the other tab causes both tabs to bend until the free end of the one tab crosses over the free end of the other tab and remains in this crossed-over position to hold the planar member in the folded position.

The opening (233) between two adjustable arms (204-205) can be varied to accommodate a wide variety of beverage container sizes. A swivel bar (203) is pivotally attached to a supporting structure (202) by inserting hinge pins (210) into hinge pin holes (212). A pair of arms, each of which includes a retaining pin (214), are pivotally attached to the swivel bar by inserting the retaining pins into holes (218) at opposite ends of the swivel bar. The retaining pins have a narrow stem (214a) and a wider head (214b), the head being wider than the holes. During assembly, the head compresses as it is being inserted into the hole, and expands after it has been forced through the hole, thereby permanently attaching the arm. A detent wheel (213), contilever spring (215) and pawl (216) hold the arms in one of three predetermined angular positions. Each arm, detent wheel and retaining pin are integrally formed as a unitary structure from a single plastic injection mold. Similarly, the swivel bar, spring and pawl are integrally formed from one mold. Alternately, the arm may include an insert (603) that can be positioned in one of three insert holes (504a-504c) in the swivel bar. To adjust an arm, the swivel bar/arm assembly must be tilted to a 45 degree 'adjustment' position, and then the arm is lifted so that the insert can be repositioned in a different hole.

Collapsible beverage container receptacle with pivotally adjustable arms

A food receptacle attaches to either a left or right-hand door of an automobile and provides the occupants with convenient storage for food and change. A reversible drawer slides between two rails suspended below the body of the receptacle with the front of the drawer facing in either direction. To prevent the drawer from being pulled out of the rails, a projection is positioned to one side of the drawer and contacts one of two diametrically opposed protuberances on the receptacle body. When the drawer is reversed, the drawer projection contacts the other protuberance. A coin holder is attached to the front of the drawer and includes an aperture to receive coins. Any coins placed in the holder are trapped therein when the holder is positioned under the receptacle body. These coins will strike a projection on the body to prevent the drawer from being pushed out of the rails. Snap-off tabs are attached to the bottom of the receptacle and rest against the automobile door. Leveling of the receptacle is accomplished by snapping-off selected tabs, or sections of tabs. A flexible strap has an 'L' shaped bracket at one end that can be inserted into the window pocket of an automobile door. The strap has two rows of slots. Hooks, attached to the receptacle, are inserted into the selected slots.
