A laser sustained plasma lamp includes a mechanically sealed pressurized chamber assembly () configured to contain an ionizable material. The chamber assembly is bounded by a chamber tube (), an ingress sapphire window (), a first metal seal ring () configured to seal against the chamber tube ingress end and the ingress sapphire window, an egress sapphire window (), and a second metal seal ring () configured to seal against the chamber tube egress end and the egress sapphire window. A mechanical clamping structure () external to the chamber assembly is configured to clamp across at least a portion of the ingress sapphire window and the egress sapphire window. The ingress sapphire window and the egress sapphire window are not connected to the chamber tube via welding and/or brazing.

Mechanically sealed tube for laser sustained plasma lamp and production method for same

A system of modular multi-aperture reflector sheets for use in general and specialty luminaires is disclosed. These sheets, designed to be simple in design, manufacture, and installation, allows for enhancing, adjusting, varying, or correction of the light distribution provided by luminaires during production or deployment. The reflector sheets are made of highly-reflective, thin material and feature multiple apertures that are patterned to redirect the light output emerging from the output of a luminaire. The reflector sheets are intended to be used in combination with both standard and custom reflectors and replace complicated and expensive lenses and optics that are often deployed to modify luminaire light distribution. The sheets are modular and can be replaced easily, allowing for standard luminaires having multiple possible light distribution patterns without further complication. Also, custom multi-aperture reflector sheets can be designed, shipped, and installed easily if further modification or correction of the light distribution is desired.

A lamp apparatus for horticulture lighting is disclosed. The lamp apparatus is a high intensity electrodeless plasma lamp with an optimized spectrum for horticulture applications. The spectrum is provided from single light source and consists of peaks in the blue range of the spectrum, 400 nm to 470 nm, needed for early growth cycle of the plant as well as peaks in the red range of the spectrum, 600 nm to 700 nm, desirable for flowering cycle while providing lower amount of light in the green spectral region which is typically reflected by the plants. The ratio of the red spectrum to blue spectrum provided by the lamp can be varied by adjusting the RF power to the lamp.

A plasma lamp apparatus. The apparatus has an arc tube structure having an inner region and an outer region in one or more embodiments. The arc tube structure has a first end comprising an associated first end diameter and a second end comprising a second end diameter according to a specific embodiment. The apparatus also has a center region provided between the first end and the second end in one or more embodiments. The center region has a center diameter, which is less than a first end diameter and/or a second end diameter.

A plasma lamp apparatus. The apparatus can have a bulb coupled to at least the first end of a support member that is provided within a housing having an interior and exterior region. The housing can also have a first coupling member disposed within the housing, and a gap can be provided between the first coupling member and the support member. Additionally an rf source can be coupled to the support member. A fill material, which can include at least a first volume of a rare gas, a first amount of a first metal halide, a second amount of a second metal halide, and a third amount of mercury, can be spatially disposed within the bulb.

The present lamp includes compact air resonators/waveguides that use grounded coupling-elements with integrated bulb assemblies to reduce the size of the resonator and improve the performance of the lamp as well as reduce cost and simplify manufacturability.

An electrodeless plasma lamp array structure uses multiple plasma lamps to produce large amounts of electromagnetic radiation (visible, IR, UV, or a combination of visible, IR, and UV). An M by N array configuration is powered by either a single RF power source or multiple RF power sources. The array incorporates controllers to adjust the power delivered from the RF power source to each lamp within the array. By adjusting the delivered RF power, the intensity of electromagnetic radiation that is emitted from each lamp is controlled independently allowing for the creation of an array of lamps that emit electromagnetic radiation of varying intensity levels at different places within the array. Using lamps with different color temperatures as part of the array allows the color temperature and the color rendering index of the illumination to achieve different lighting conditions.

Electrodeless plasma lamp array

A short arc lamp comprises front and back subassemblies including mating weld rings, whereby the lamp can be assembled and sealed through welding of the weld rings. Each subassembly includes a number of self-aligning components to facilitate assembly and improve alignment accuracy. The metal body of the lamp can have a cooling projection portion, which can be received by a heat sink to remove heat from near the anode. A heat sink also can be formed as part of the metal body. The lamp reflector can be a drop-in reflector, or can be formed as part of the metal body through a process such as metal injection molding. A single strut can be used to position the cathode, which can be part of the sleeve or received by a portion of the sleeve. A trigger electrode can be used to simplify the power supply for the lamp.
