An apparatus and method for releasably mounting access control components for a door lock to a door. A base element is adapted to be mounted to the door. A first wire connector element is mounted to the base element. A mounting element with combustible material attached is provided. A second wire connector element is mounted to the mounting element, and the second wire connector element is releasably connected to the first wire connector element to mount the mounting element to the base element. A spring is provided, and a retainer holds the spring in a loaded state, but in a fire event the retainer may melt, allowing the spring to apply force to the mounting element. Alternatively, an expanding material may apply the force. The force causes the wire connector elements to disconnect and allow the mounting element to separate from the base element.

A method and system that increases the throughput of a mailing machine by continuously computing indicia prior to and during mail processing is provided. The indicia generation process is divided into two distinct parts, cryptographic calculation and funds committal/printing. Indicium data are continuously computed, asynchronously with the printing of the indicia, and stored in a buffer until needed. This enables several indicium data to be computed and stored prior to processing of a mail piece by the mailing machine. Prior to printing an indicium on a mail piece, the funds for the indicium are accounted for by updating the registers of the mailing machine. Since a number of indicium data may be pre-computed prior to the start of processing the mail through the mailing machine, the throughput of the mailing machine can be increased.

A tamper protected printed circuit board assembly including a printed circuit board and a tamper wrap attached to the printed circuit board. The tamper wrap includes a plurality of side tabs extending from a main body portion and a plurality of corner protection flaps extending from the side tabs. The tamper wrap covers the entirety of a first surface of the printed circuit board and at least a portion of a second surface opposite the first surface of the printed circuit board. Each of the side tabs covers at least a portion of one of the side walls of the printed circuit board and each of the corner flaps is folded around and covers a respective one of the corner edges of the printed circuit board. The printed circuit board may have a plurality of corner sentinels mounted adjacent to the corners of a surface thereof for protecting such corners.

The motor brake retarder system having a plurality of retarders disposed on respective cylinders of a motor of a vehicle for imposing a braking function to the respective cylinders of the motor, each retarder electrically connected to an electronic control module by one of a plurality of control leads. The brake warning apparatus includes an electrical interface electrically connected to each one of the plurality of respective control leads for receiving a control signal from the electronic control module. The brake warning apparatus also includes a brake warning switch for receiving the control signal from the electrical interface and in response to the control signal passing an electrical current to the brake warning light.

A method of attaching a tamper wrap to a printed circuit board using an installation tool that is placed over the main body portion of the tamper wrap. The side tabs of the tamper wrap are folded up against the side walls of the installation tool, and the tamper wrap and the installation tool are inserted into an enclosing case. The installation tool is then removed, the printed circuit board to be wrapped is placed into the enclosing case, and the side tabs are folded and adhered down onto the top surface of the printed circuit board. Also, a printed circuit board assembly having improved heat sinking capabilities including a thermally conductive material located between a printed circuit board and a tamper wrap such that the electronic components are in thermal contact with an enclosing case for enclosing the printed circuit board and the tamper wrap.

A tamper detection system includes a trigger mechanism system and a detection circuit that operate in combination to protect an integrated circuit from attack. The detection circuit connects to the trigger mechanism system that is basically a protective mesh that consists of two separate loops of wire held in close proximity to each other and an optional ground layer. The mesh is such that an attempted penetration is highly likely to cause an open of either loop or a short of one loop to the other. The detection system recognizes shorts and opens in the mesh. The detection circuit is intended to be very simple in its operation it that it does not require a sophisticated stimulus and response set to operate. It is designed to be polled on a regular basis for indications of a change in its operation.
