A syringe system, including a plunger, a microcontroller, a battery, and a coil. The syringe barrel having a proximal end, a distal end, and a cylindrical sidewall defining a longitudinal axis, the cylindrical sidewall extending longitudinally between the proximal and distal ends, the sidewall having an exterior surface and defining an internal volume, the plunger being positioned between the proximal and distal ends of the syringe barrel and being movable within the internal volume with respect to the syringe barrel in the longitudinal direction. The syringe barrel further includes a label disposed on the sidewall and having at least two conductive strips extending in a non-parallel direction with respect to the longitudinal axis and having unique lengths. The microcontroller is configured to determine a position of the plunger with respect to the syringe barrel by measuring a current induced in the coil by the at least two conductive strips.

An automatic injection syringe assembly having an integrated and fillable medicine container that includes a medicine container within a housing and a conduit assembly. The medicine container includes a piston having an aperture at a distal end thereof for the passage of fluid therethrough. The conduit assembly includes a conduit member that is releasably connected to the housing and has an open proximal end and an open distal end. The open distal end of the conduit member is releasably engaged with the piston and in fluid communication with the piston aperture. The open proximal end and the open distal end of the conduit member are m fluid communication via a conduit within the conduit member.

Automatic injection syringe assembly with integrated, fillable medicine container and method of filling an injection syringe assembly

The present invention provides for an autoinjector that registers off a distal end of a syringe to provide for a more accurate needle insertion depth. The autoinjector employs an automatically deployable frontal buttress for registration of the distal end or shoulder of the syringe.

The present invention provides an injector apparatus suitable for use with an automatic injection device. The injector apparatus includes a cylindrical housing having a deflectable member and a removable guard. The deflectable member releasably holds a syringe tube assembly in the axial direction when the apparatus is in the initial position. Then, after use, the deflectable member provides a tamper evidence means for indicating whether or not the injector apparatus was previously used or tampered with.

An automatic injection and retraction device having a longitudinal axis is provided that includes an injection assembly, a retraction assembly, and a pre-filled syringe cartridge. The injection assembly has an activation-prevention feature moveable between an on position and an off position. The retraction assembly has a needle guard that is removable in a direction along the longitudinal axis upon application of a removal force. The pre-filled syringe cartridge has a hypodermic needle with a needle sheath thereon. The retraction and injection assemblies are secured to one another so that the pre-filled syringe cartridge is in the retraction assembly with the needle sheath secured to the needle guard. The retraction and injection assemblies are configured so that, upon application of a twisting torque to the injection and retraction assemblies, the activation-prevention feature moves from the on position to the off position simultaneous with applying the removal force to the needle guard.

Automatic injection and retraction devices for use with pre-filled syringe cartridges

A coupling for selectively securing a spring to a plunger is provided. The coupling has a first end defining a spring rest for receiving the spring and a second end defining a shoulder. The shoulder is moveable to a first position into contact with the plunger and to a second position out of contact with the plunger. The shoulder is normally in the second position and is resiliently moveable to the first position.

Coupling for an auto-injection device

An automatic injection and retraction syringe having a medicine cartridge, an injection assembly, and a retraction assembly is provided. The retraction assembly is selectively securable to the injection assembly to house the medicine cartridge. The retraction assembly includes an end cap, a hypodermic needle, a retraction spring, and an upper seal. The retraction spring is maintained in a partially compressed condition between the needle hub and the end cap. The upper seal is urged against a sealing surface by the retraction spring in the partially compressed condition to form a hermetic seal. In some embodiments, the injection assembly includes an injection spring, a plunger engaged to the injection spring, and a safety element to prevent the plunger from escaping the injection assembly if the injection spring is released from the normally stressed condition before the assemblies are secured to one another.
