A user device (e.g., a smart phone) may dynamically manage photographs, videos, and other types of media content. The user device may receive media content by taking photographs, recording videos, and/or recording audio inputs. The user device may also receive media content in email messages, text message, download, etc. The user device may determine the value of the media content based on factors, such as the quality of the media content, the time and location associated with the media content, the actual content (e.g., people, landscapes, etc.) of the media content, etc. The user device may also determine a storage strategy based on the value of the media content and proceed to execute the storage strategy. For instance, the user device may store the media content locally, upload the media content to a cloud storage system, or delete the media content from a local storage of the user device.

Managing media content storage for user devices

A dynamic mobile device feedback system is described. Feedback may be obtained using a device feedback client residing on the mobile device and a feedback server remote to the mobile device. The device feedback client may receive feedback solicitation inquiries (invitations/queries) and presentation rules from the feedback server, monitor the mobile device, identify trigger events associated with the mobile device, present the feedback solicitation inquiries in accordance with the presentation rules, and receive feedback from the user of the mobile device. The feedback may be sent to the feedback server for further processing.

Dynamic mobile device feedback methods, systems, and apparatus

An Application ('App') Checker identifies and isolates incompatible applications on a mobile device during a software platform update. After receiving a target platform version number from an Update Server, the App Checker generates a list of installed applications on the mobile device. Next, the App Checker sends a request to an App Store Server or Update Server for an application catalog of applications compatible with the target platform version. Upon receiving the application catalog indicating compatibility status of applications relative to the target platform version, the App Checker iteratively compares the installed application list with the application catalog to identify whether or not each installed application is compatible with the target platform. The App Checker then populates an application quarantine or removal database to identify each incompatible application to isolate incompatible applications, and quarantines or removes the incompatible applications. Finally, the mobile device is upgraded to the target platform version.

Identification and isolation of incompatible applications during a platform update

Methods and related systems monitor a mobile communications device to determine if it is in a moving vehicle. If the device is determined to be in a moving vehicle, a database is accessed. The database contains information on locally imposed restrictions on usage of mobile communications devices while driving. The obtained information is used to impose appropriate communication restrictions on the mobile device. As long as the mobile communications device continues to be in the moving vehicle, its geographical location is monitored and, if it is determined that the device has entered a new geographical location, the database is again accessed and the restrictions are modified accordingly.

Method and apparatus for automatic mobile communications restriction

A user can manage battery consumption of a mobile device using a mobile device battery management program which provides improved battery management functions, such as a dynamic battery use estimator, a battery threshold manager, and a profile based battery manager. Using the dynamic battery use estimator, the user can input different configuration settings of the mobile device and get estimates of the projected remaining battery life for the inputted configuration settings before applying any change to the operational configuration setting. The battery threshold manager allows the user to select a trigger and set its associated condition for turning off at least one application, service, or component of the mobile device when the condition is reached. Using the profile based battery manager, the user can select one of multiple profiles and set the mobile device to operate in an operational configuration setting corresponding to the selected profile.

Dynamic battery saver for a mobile device

A mobile communication device may include a mobile communication system configured to facilitate wireless mobile communications. A location sensing system may be configured to sense the location of the mobile communication device. A location-based points of interest application may be configured to locate points of interest within the vicinity of the mobile communication device based on the location of the mobile communication device. An application mapping application may be configured to locate user applications that are relevant to the points of interest within the vicinity of the mobile communication device. A user interface may be configured to present links to the user applications.

Application suggestions for mobile communication device based on location-based directory information

A social network helps mobile device users purchase applications for their devices and to purchase new mobile devices. The network utilizes information from a user's friends to effectively 'recommend' applications and mobile devices, and in particular recommend mobile devices based on the applications recommended. The phone numbers of a user's contact list may be scanned by the system to identify friends of the user. A friend network database stores the user's information and friends' information throughout the network and supplies the information to an application store where users may download applications or purchase mobile devices. The information supplied by the database includes the applications and the mobile devices of friends or friends of friends. In response to a user inquiry, the store displays the amount and/or identities of friends and/or friends of friends who have downloaded a particular application or own a particular device.

Using social networking to help users purchase mobile applications and devices

A mobile communication device may include a wireless communication system configured to wirelessly communicate with other communication systems. A location sensing system may be configured to sense the location of the mobile communication device. A data storage system may be configured to store data representative of tasks which the mobile communication device should perform at different locations. A task manager application may contain at least one algorithm. The algorithm may be configured to receive information indicative of the current location of the mobile communication device from the location-sensing system, query the data storage system for any tasks which the mobile communication device should perform at the current location, and cause any tasks located by the query to be performed while at the current location.
