The subject of the invention is a method of refining glass for which the temperature (T log 2) corresponding to a viscosity of 100 poise (10 Pa&#xb7;s) is greater than or equal to 1480&#xb0; C., characterized in that sulfides are used as a refining agent. It also relates to the glass article capable of being obtained by this method.

The present invention relates to a method of refining lithium aluminosilicate glass capable of being controllably ceramized and free of arsenic oxide, antimony oxide and tin oxide, in which at least 0.05% by weight of at least one sulfide is added to the glass batch materials and said materials are melted at a temperature below 1750&#xb0; C. The invention also relates to the glass-ceramics obtained from said colored glass, especially glass colored by vanadium oxide, and cooktops and cooking utensils including such glass-ceramics.
